You get to see 40 games a season for any times and the basic finals prior to Prelims. AFL mship is great value once you get past the initial sign on fees. I upgraded my AFL mship this year to incorporate Carlton gold and have a seat as well. Best of both worlds.

AFL Membership is a farce these days - you pay close to $400 per year then you have to pay extra to book seats in the AFL Members Reserve at the MCG.

In the old days you could just present your membership and go in and take a seat.

The AFL's aim these days is to "churn" as many old members out of AFL Membership (pre-1997) and replace them with new members who think the package on offer is terrific. AFL Membership is a complete con and has now been designed to generate extra revenue in reserved seat sales for the AFL and the ticket agencies.

Nice one - Wayne Jackson, Demetrispew, Buckly, Welch.

How do we compare to the other Vic clubs - are we ahead of StKilda, Cats etc yet?

any update, as there where heaps of people signing up at Rd 2.

i think looking at the people signing up then we can look beyond 30,000 already which is a good result.

I am lucky enough as part of my role to be given some updates on web traffic, I don't really ask about memberships as such. In terms of web traffic, I hope the club doesn't mind, but when the news is this good, it really makes you think about the value of our brand that we are really yet to exploit.

After coming in second on all the AFL sites (we don't track Essendon*'s 'other' site traffic) to Collingwood for each month last year, Carlton's site was #1 in both February and March, a huge plus for us. Factors considered key are 1) Wiz of course, 2) the expected rise of the Blues v the expected fall of the Pies, and 3) well, I want to add this one, but our content over the past few months has been exceptional (IMHO). Not just the club writers, but afl.com.au's Sam Lane really does like us and we're getting a fair coverage at the moment.

Even better is that Carltonfc.com.au had over 60,000 unique viewers over March - a huge increase over our previous best. Imagine if we could convert 2/3 to members - what a power base we would have.

I wonder what effect following on from Headplant's excellent lead in automatically converting URLS from afl-dot-com-dot-au to afl.com.au has in increasing the club's web traffic?

Thanks for the extra info molsey. 8)

Good to see we're above the "rest" & only behind Coll & Ess to date.

Try typing "afl. com. au" without the spaces.

Right here, it automatically converts to carltonfc.com.au which means if someone pastes a link to an article off afl.com.au it'll go through our site instead

Thanks fevolaaa. Yeah, Heady sorted this out back in the days on TBV, and bluechucky sorted it out for us here on TC.

Could not have said it better Agro. Have just given up my AFL membership for all the above reasons.
