After watching the replay, not sure Cox was the first player to be standing the mark, either.

I was thinking similar. Didn't the defender (sorry not sure who it was), kick Gov in the side or near the side of his face or head? Yes it was accidental, but it was in the act of Gov marking.

Could have been 50?

At the very least it was very, very clear Gov was very groggy and should not have been allowed to take the kick?

Reminded me of the Robbie WARNOCK shot after the siren after he was knocked out…

honestly ... i think the ball in gov's hands at the end was ideal? one of the best kicks in the club.

I’m super disappointed like many here.

Left the ground 10mins before 3qtr time and I rarely leave early.

I didn’t feel like we dominated the 1st like stats suggest. We had territory but Pies sat back and we were too safe with our ball use. Our looks at goal didn’t seem that great because of this.

Shackles come off in the last, we take some risks, run the ball a lot more and hey presto.

We are playing like a team that has something to lose and I suppose we do given our ladder position. Now we’ve lost that. Our safe mindset has been really disappointing. This time last year we were hunting every week.
I agree about the first quarter. Felt about even to me.

& I wonder if the aggressive play that eventually came in Q4 was really all that tactical, or if it was just the extra 2 days rest starting to show.

In any event it should be used as the blueprint for next week. No point playing nervous & over careful when we have a good team.

The Hawks will absolutely screw us if we play too conservative against them.

We have soft players and the opposition know it. They bully us to the extent it’s become embarrassing and even a young North did it to us. When players such as McGovern, either win the hard ball and stand up to the opposition thuggery or be replaced by someone that won’t take sh1t, is when we will progress. How we let Naicos mouth off so much and walk off the ground standing is an indictment on this group. We don’t tackle with force, we don’t put our head over the ground ball and we get pushed of the ball with ease. Watch the game again and you’ll see the culprits. I don’t have to name them, if you’re honest within yourself. All in full vision tonight.

yes soft

i cracked it when the little shit laughed in cripp's face when that other little prick intercepted in front of him.
to cripp's defence he did kick the next goal, one of the few real players that we have with some self respect and determination, i do feel for him

Sure , but you can't say he wasn't dazed when taking the kick after copping a knock to the head.

Narrow minded thinking , oh he can fill any hole, handy backup...

He's nearly been our best player the past month and comes on and shows it again.

The rot continued all game with the over defensive , kick long to a contest, stagnant awful Voss football

The rot stopped for a little bit when that shit was thrown in the bin and we played with some dare.

Only for the rot to set in again after the siren with a kick out on the full and smiles all round.

We have thrown a promising season down the toilet and the coaching staff have a hell of a lot to answer for

I am angry and really pissed off this morning.
What a disappointing club we are.
You have to wonder if we will ever win a flag again any time soon.
We have a small window, and getting smaller each year, with this list.
We are so bloody slow it is infuriating.

I laughed at the ground too.

It's actually better it happened like that. Could you imagine that it came off the boot sweet, was heading in, then faded at the last moment or hit the post?

It was symbolic of where we are at.

Just my sadistic view

You picked it Trav.

I can't believe what I witnessed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
The first quarter was a replay of the first game we played against Cats.

A full forward who hasn't got a routine and executes guesstimate kicks at goal. Have a look at the number of wasted shots: behinds tally.
It is unacceptable. Play him at CHF and get his hands on the ball FFS. Standing like a statue in the goal square is a waste of resources.

So predicitable with 2 KPFs. One stands the goal square waiting for God. the other roams the arcs and hardly in the F50.

Pitto tried, but was the worst performance I'd seen from him. Cox and Cameron were on the ground 83% of game. 2 against 1.
Needed 2 rucks in this game, but not Pitto and TDK. TDK as No 1 and a Fwd Ruck as the 3rd banana to give us an optional target forward.
Motlop shat himself when goal kicking. Serious? That's his bread and butter. Miss goals and you of no use to us.

I followed TC last night, and could feel the heartbreak. I haven't recovered.

braithy will blame the game plan on the coaches, and so he should. Its on the coaching group. Players are still the same ones from last year (apart from Elijah).
WTF.

Why save it all for the last in the last 4 losses. Too little too late.
Show our best in the last. Lack of motivation? Shackles of the Game plan unleashed?

Plenty more twists and turns to come in this season . Season's within a season . We are still very competitive . We can still pull a rabbit or two out of the hat . I thought we did pretty well despite losing . Build on that last quarter . Not much between a lot of sides and its all about who brings it on the day . Apart from that our skipper was superb again . Simple really , its all about our bottom six . They were putrid last night . It was like half the side was carrying the other half . That CAN be rectified . Our lesser lights have played some good footy this season and if they can do it once they can do it again . We are still very much in it for mine . Lots to play out yet .

PS ............... Gov played a superb game last night . Bad luck about that set shot . He aint the first player to shank a crucial shot . FFS cut him some slack .

Pros:
CC are out next week (Cerra & Cottrell)

Cons:
Pittonet has been abysmal. Potentially sub VFL level
Outbustled throughout the game and that little twerp N Daicos would not shut his trap
McKay again l repeat the champion bruise free 6ft 8in 100kgs $850k a year footballer ragdolled by Peter Framptons cousin Billy
Voss the coaching pretender. Again outpointed by his “mate” who condescendingly remarked of our “effort”

and despite what the swans dished up tonight, I'm dreading leaving the house tomorrow

Today my little fella is playing a game, and he's happy fronting up with Swans losing by 112, otherwise, losing games like this is just an embarrassment.

I'm not going his game. I dread going out to anything footy today.

We supposedly played our hardest games in the first half season, and had the 2nd easiest draw in the second half season. What a farce.

Losing Cottrell and Cerra is bad timing.

Binns wasn't that impressive in the VFL. I thought Young was our best TBH. Carroll looked strong. Williams still a week away?

We have a chance to play our first final at the MCG. Isn't that what we were after?

well i think the coaches have to look at themselves our slow predictable game plan or our u12 game style get ball boot ball has not changed for 2 years ,so what did we learn from lions preliminary final or change something in the way we play no we just believe in this crap system . Forget last night but ADL,DOGS,PORT games was all there to be won in the last Quarter and our style /game plan let us down but rock up against ferals and we continue in same manner and result is the same. Voss and Co should be looked at .
My favourite play against coll was the long kick to wings only for coll players to mark and send it back 6 times i counted this happening in 1 q.

Pros:

Cripps and Weiters were outstanding.
Elijah, Walsh, Martin, McGovern, Saad and Fogarty good.
Still not getting enough ball, but a strong performance by Oli. His kicking was really good too.
Liked the coaching move to get Acres forward in the last quarter.
Maybe Kemp is a small defender, because he defended a lot better this week.

Cons:

What Collingwood did for Pendlebury, we should have done for Cripps last week.
In a really open year, we've butchered the opportunity to finish top 2. Probably now scrape into 7th or 8th.
Poor record in close finishes this year.
Inaccuracy.
Continuing to concede goals at defensive stoppages. Not sure why we can't seem to fix this.
Comparative ball movement.
Injuries again.
Just not getting the run we need out of a sore Walsh and Acres.
Not enough out of Charlie, Owies and Motlop.
Soft forward 50 frees to the opposition. I'd love Harry to get treated by the umps the way Cox is.

Thanks for this post. It's felt like we've lost a lot of close games this year, and you've proven that. Our form has been average over the last month, and we're still right in games, which says something. Now if we could just stop leaking goals from defensive stoppages ...
