Mirkov always gets heaps of taps in the VFL, but after the tap he becomes the invisible man around the ground, he makes Pittonet look like Koutafides in comparison for around the ground impact.

Its a big risk to select Mirkov imo, but.....

If Pitto is on one leg....we may not have a choice but to play Mirkov.

Some of the funniest things Ive seen that have cost us games in the VFL came from Mirkov in the ruck.
Well, its funny if you're the opposition.

I'd like to see what he's got, but really believe its suicide to select him. No strength whatsoever. Mids push him out.
I'm afraid what Reid would do to Mirkov.

I’d rather see Lemmey as a full time ruck than Mirkov, but we may need Lemmey to replace Charlie and Harry as our sole key forward. Back to Young again?

He's always late to the party.

A bit like some posters. Waits to read all the news from mainstream. Gathers the headlines of the week. Then fires posts as their own thoughts without reference.

What a coincidence.

The recent headlines King has at his disposal

Russell is leaving
17 on injured list
Carlton not recontracting perennially injured players: Marchbank, Cuningham, Martin...Gov on low salary.

We already know the problem. King is a bit late, and jumped off the wagon, and given his reasons for his failure and his bullish outlook on the Blues.

Why didnt he talk about our vulnerabilities after the draft last year, or during this year when we were continually cursed by injury?

I have no doubt Young will be selected ahead of Mirkov and Lemmey for any KP role let alone the ruck role.

I'm a Young fan, to a degree. Not as a Best 23 player, but could potentially be one if coached properly imo. He is not expensive and can play a role.

Young was fantastic last week in the VFL. I'd pick Young ahead of Pitto in the ruck, if Pittos knee isnt right.

Beggers can't be choosers.

I want to win.

We could easily end up like this

B: Cowan, Marchbank, Cincotta
HB: Newman, Weitering, McGovern
C: Binns, Acres, O Hollands
HF: E Hollands, Kemp, Walsh
F: Cripps, Lemmey, Owies
R: Young, Kennedy, Hewett
I/C: Carroll, Wilson, Williams, Motlop
Sub: C Durdin
Emergency: Moir, Lord, Mirkov

Out: Charlie, Harry, Saad, Martin, Fogarty, Boyd, Pittonet (all injured)

In my opinion Young has to play. So does Marchbank if he is out of the concussion protocols.
All the boys who have been in and around the first team for the last 8 weeks come in. Perhaps one debutant . We still need to try and win. It will be tough when our 3 tallest forwards and one small from the selected team against the Hawks are out. Not much time to try and replicate a forward line in training this week. I like BV's suggestion of Cripps in the forward line.
If we can turn the game into a scrap, we will have a chance. 20mm of rain expected on Saturday. Rain also expected Sunday. Wet most of the week.

I'm now looking at guys like Nick Newman to stand up. Half way through the year he would have been top 2 or 3 in our B&F. He has really dropped off
in form. I don't like his body language of late. His decision making with and without the ball has been all at sea. Its guys like Newman, Hewett, Acres, Willliams and McGovern that need to lift to a much higher standard this week if we are to get over the line. These are our experienced B graders that need to have A grade games. Results from other matches might go our way and all of a sudden we have hope again going into the final round.

Its a long shot. The season has turned to shit. But they owe it to each other and the fans who have been so heavily invested to fight it out.

Williams into defence and Durdin into the fwd line. Then Kennedy into defence to cover for McGovern's obligatory 15 minute rest in the rooms to check his toe. After Williams goes off with a hamstring strain we're down to 2 on the bench, deja vu...

I think given the number of players out over the last 2 weeks we need to keep the positional changes to a minimum.
I wouldn't be tinkering with the backline. Our forward line is already needing a complete rebuild in the space of a week.
We shouldn't do that to the backline as well. Like for Like where possible. Obviously we will need some creativity, especially on who plays forward and kicks us
a winning score.

Yes we're probably in the radical change territory just covering forced changes.
But we also need to try to bring in the 'best available' replacements or we'll lose too much talent.

Like Charlie, he’s been playing injured for a number of weeks, making him even slower than usual, I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally stick a fork in his season.
