More positive than I expected, but his reasoning seems to simply be that teams don't stay down for too long,r ather than pointing to anything specific. Doesn't he usually provide win forecasts, or did I miss them?

One huge problem though is calling Waite a touch fragile. He has had a few injuries in pre-season mostly but Waite has played 50 games in 3 years (after his nil game season debut) in a spectacular effort for a young player. Compare that to Livo and Sporn who over an additional year are yet to get there. Waite has been one of the true highlights of Carlton 2003-2005, in particular last year where he went from rangy wingman to a target up forward.

I think Waite is something special, I hope we see his full potential (ie. he doesnt get cut down my more injuries). I just get the feeling from Waite that he wants to be great, and he wants to lift the blues by his own boot if necessary.

Got to respect that!

He did say we should expect 6-8 wins this year. I'd be pretty chuffed if we managed that.

A bit simplistic but generally OK. I think Mike has identified a key problem area (defence) but realises the promise our list holds. I rate our midfield as equally worrying as our defence because we are relying too heavily on young and/or unproven players to step up. Too risky for mine.

Whilst Saddington does provide some defensive depth, he has suffered too many minor setbacks to give anyone any great confidence that he can stand up throughout the year

I think that Heath Scottland will have a huge year this year, he is looking might fit, very sharp and after training he did a quick jog and Eddie gave him shit about it

Am happy to read anything written by Sheahan.Good footy journo for mine who has very good contacts and gets a heap of 'inside' info.Reckon Mike has got most of that info from our brains trust.
I always aim for the stars myself and fully expect to waltz into the final series.But then again i am old school Carlton..........BUT.......in the light of our last few seasons,you would have to be content ( as opposed to happy ) with 8 wins.

Too simplistic but what do you expect when fish mouth grabs the pen.I think Blackwell and Russell could be regulars particularly Blackwell who i rate highly as a potential solid inside player.These dudes dont rate hardly a mention in MS's report.

I would love to get these pre season reports from a year ago and see how far off the mark they are.Still good publicity for the Blue baggers.

I reckon Kennedy and Murphy would be pretty disappointed to be washed up at 28, after 10 years.
