What happens if we get an injury in Q1 & doc has to play the whole game?

We have the same problem with a few sub options eg Moir, Martin

Hopefully it doesn't get that hot and at least we're on at night.
Its been stupid hot up here for "winter" 35 a couple of days ago and 33 now

Its expected to be 13 on Saturday night though, so the weather shouldnt come into play

I can't see Charlie getting up sufficiently. The ligaments in his ankle appear to be shot. Anyone who's played with that injury knows the lateral instability it provides.

Cripps is the key. The past 3 games against the Lions he's had 13, 17 and 23 and averages 3 clearances. Dunkley takes him out of the game.
He's needs to work through that and have a huge game this week. We can't win without it IMHO.

Inspirational Carlton utility Sam Docherty is firming to make an emotional return on the same ground where he suffered a third ACL in March, with Blues skipper Patrick Cripps pushing his case to play against Brisbane Lions in Saturday night’s Gabba elimination final.

Cripps said Docherty was “flying” and physically ready after spending the past month training with the main group.

The 30-year-old was one of the standout performers in a Saturday morning training session at IKON Park, with around 4000 Carlton diehards cheering the Blues on from the sidelines.

in yesterday's Herald Sun

Today they played a match sim.

Anyone have a peep?

Brizzy is not exactly on the coast, and can get humid.
This time last year it got slippery at the Gabba when sun went down.

13 is very cool. Doubt it will be humid.

I'd take 13 right now if you offered it to me

Chinka dropped.

Chinkas our quickest. I think we need all the speed we can get.

In last years prelim Boydy was the only one taking on the Brizzy lines with speed. Injury has forced him out for this Final.

I hope Durdins shoulder stands up. He was hampered badly by the last against Saints. He's so important for that forwardline when he's going 100%. He's just another injury prone selection risk.

I've got a strong hunch Docherty will play.

There's at least 9 players who have been out and some underdone.

Docherty sounds to be the one pressing hardest for selection from TDK, Martin, Cerra, Boyd who haven't played in a while.
Maybe its all the media hype, but its players like Walshy and Weiters who tell us Docs firing and ready. Why not if his body is fit?

Durdin has a shoulder, and if MC adds Doc, that's 2 players who have question marks. I can live with that.
Durdin should have been subbed out last week for Moir, not Carroll. Obviously Durdin's pressure is highly valued.

If Durdin is fit to play, he's in for Fantasia

E. Hollands McKay Cincotta
Williams Charlie Kemp
Pittonet Hewett Walsh

Docherty Kennedy Martin Fantasia

Not bad bondi. Do you need a small quick forward in there though, Durdin or Motlop?

flower it's annoying Owies got that week

My favourite small is a fit Durdin with energy to burn. Followed by Owies and Fog.

It may look like we need to make up numbers of smalls with Owies and Fogarty missing, but Martin and Williams zest for the contest play as small pressure forwards. Add Fantasia to that group.

I feel we have been carrying Motlop since he returned. I watch VFL, and he only had one 'lucky' 4 goal game, other than that, he wasn't fit for purpose.

No need for 4 smalls.

Then there's Martin who plays tall but is medium like Elijah Hollands and Cincotta. Cincotta tags Zorko, and opportunities to goal will come for him.

They're all part of that small mobile group in the forwardline.

Goals aplenty.

On the sen app.
They have a sinc feature where you can fast forward a few seconds or back a few seconds and match up the commentary with the coverage. It works really well.

McGovern and Charlie did not participate in the match simulation today, they were part of the rehab group.

Massive underdogs this week. Throw caution to the wind and try some shit. If we bring back Curnow and McKay, and then revert to bombing it on their heads all game I'll spew.

The Golden rule of Final's Football has never changed.

Do not take injured players into a game.

Are we willing to roll the dice?

I hope not, but there is always a nagging voice inside the back of your head, saying she'll be right on the night.

That is our dilemma, that can only be answered by the powers to be.

I hope they make informed decisions.

Head over heart on this one.

1) Injured players - I’d take the risk except for those for whom recurrence is a long term consequence. I trust the club knows who these are. It’s basically a risk/reward thing. Eg. I think Martin and Williams add so much to our forward set up that I’d play them both even though there is a huge risk that Martin won’t make it through. Because we are screwed if we put out a sub-par team in an away Elimination final against one of the form teams. But I would risk, say, TDK if a recurrence of the foot will stuff up his preseason or worse.

2) 4 players to cover: Neale, Andrews, Zorko and Raynor. I’d put Kemp onto Andrews, Cincotta on Zorko. For Beale, I’d put Hewett on Neale but I’d probably also consider having Oli Hollands run around with him to block his follow on run from stoppages. Id give Cowan the job on Raynor.

How often is a player marginal during the season but you hear "he'd play if it was a final"

Listening to Michael Voss on AFL 360 in Charlie, Harry, McGovern and Williams. Rest are unsure.
