Read this article and started to think of who might pick up who on Saturday week.

G. Ablett - Carrotts
N.Ablett - Tbird
Scarlett - Fish
Grima - Hartlett

What matchups would you like to see?

Reckon Scarlett could have a few opponents on the night given Fevola is out for the match.

Could end up playing on Waite, Setanta, Fisher, Hartlett, Whitnall and maybe even Bryan.

houla on the ball would be a good start.

blackwell extended time in the guts also would be nice.

lappin up forward

harlett up forward.

not so worried about actual match up. carrots on gazza is a good suggestion.

i reckon livo could take nathan ablett no worries.

i'd like to see us streech the defence with a tall foward line at times, using setanta, waite, fisher, deluca/bryan,hartlett, kouta and who ever a resting ruck might be as part of the forward rotation

I'd like to see Russell, Hartlett & Blackwell given plenty of time.

The major thing I'll be looking for in this game is how each of the younger blokes reacts and handles the role DP will give them on the night. We know what the older blokes can do but if blokes like Russell, Hartlett, Simmo, Carlos, AB, Betts & even Murf can come out even or beat their direct opponents it will give them a terrific psycological boost at this stage of the year.
Very important game for matchups that will hopefully give the youngsters some real match confidence.

I can't make it - bloody wedding - what happens if we lose? Country circuit? Skinner Reserve?

If Ottens plays I'd be tempted to put Carlos on him for a qtr and see what happens. Carlos' intensity might cause Ottens to drop his bundle maybe?

I reckon we'll see Hartlett down back against the Cats.

The key to our line up will be where Whitnall plays. I get the impression we want him at CHB where possible. Looks like the Cats will probably play N.Ablett, Kingsley and Grima up forward. I don't fancy Big Red playing on any of those guys to be honest, as they are all quite quick for big blokes.

G.Ablett - McGrath. I think he'll get a few similar jobs throughout the year.
N.Ablett - Tbird.
Scarlett - Hartlett/Setanta. They'll both play forward at some stage.
Grima - Saddington
Kingsley - Livo

I would play Hartlett or Setanta at FF vs Scarlett..I think the taller leading player is the best option for him and you need the extra cm's against a player who likes the body on body stuff and who is very strong.

Houlihan in the midfield?....that should be a good test for him...Corey, Enright, Bartel, Ling etc are a fair unit .
Major problem will be the Geelong small forwards....Chapman and Ablett are both that combinaion of strong bodies, good marking ability for their size, pacy and have the footy smarts....like Medhurst,Russell Robertson, Nathan Brown etc we dont really have the ideal players to match up on them...Teague, McGrath etc are handy but are lacking overall..I would be tempted to start with Bannister on G Ablett...N Ablett tends to get a lot of ball from his bro so I think if you can cut Gary out it might make life easier for who ever gets Nathan...

re: Ottens...if he plays I would play Mclaren on him...be intersting to see how Pagan plays Lance..does he play down back and get a bunny or would Denis back him against something that was a bit more quality like N Ablett and hope Lance's experience can win out over the more athletic son of God...

Look forward to seeing Blackwell, Russell etc as I rate Geelong as a good team and a premeirship chance and it will give us a good indciation on how we are improving especially if Geelong field a decent team and are interested which is always debatable at this time of year....

Don't think it is your wedding Fevola25 unless you're getting married at Fenix restaurant in Richmond about 6.00pm?

Nah Scarlett's way too good for those two at this stage. No good for their confidence to be towelled by the best defender in the game. Our young blokes need to be matched up on players who they can have a good contest on.

Yeah I thought maybe Carrots on Gablett both on the ball and when he's up forward. 1AW has been preparing as an attacking playmaking defender I thought reading the training reports, so maybe he can take one of the cats small - mid sized forwards.

DON'T put Lance on anyone. Let him be an extra man playing loose in defence.

Russell should be out in space on a wing linking up the run out of defence with delivery to our forwards.
