Can't help either Keyser, although he did kick 2 goals in his first game, so he is obviously a chance.

wrt the bespeckled Tony Southcombe, he did wear the number 4 in 1977, he was there in the data, but was missed when I typed in the page, damn human error, good to have other eyes to pick these things up though. :)

I just included him in Locker no 4.

thanks buzzalenko. :-D

Jars....to further confuse you; I can tell you that Mark Buckley played in the 1979 U19 Carlton Grand Final side; and he wore No.28!

Age 16-183cm and 70kg....from St. Marks.

Mark Buckley had an older brother called Stephen who played in the reserves for a long long time and wore no 39. He and Mark Kerr (no 38) were a regular fixture in the reserves during the late 70's and early 80's. Not sure if either played a senior game - I don't think so - but may have played a few Tuesday night specials in the Ansett/Escort/Panasonic Cup out at Waverley.

Mark was a left footer - remember him playing a fairly good game against Richmond just before the finals in 82 - a tough hard game between the top 2 sides with the old Southern stand rocking.

He kicked 5 or 6 goals in a half against Richmond at Princes Park R1 1983 - can't recall if it was 1st half or 2nd half.

Also remember being at a Commodore Cup game at the Lake Oval some time in the 80's and standing next to the coachs box hearing Parkin doing his nut at Mark Buckleys non leading.

I'm pretty sure he played at Brisbane at some stage and I think he may have coached one of the local sides up there

Thanks RH, and everyone else.

We now have something of a player profile for Mark Buckley, thanks to this thread.

Mark Kerr was a permanent fixture in the reserves around this time must hold the record for the most Reserve Games for Carlton without ever playing a senior game. Was he Laurie Kerr's son???

Well that explains why he was allowed to spend 10 years in the Carlton Reserves.

I play golf with Steve every year, I'll ask him any questions you want answered about him and his brother.

Mark is still good mates with Bruce Reid who owns & runs a hotel/motel somewhere in Victoria, a well known country town but the name escapes me right now.

Let me assure of one thing, Bucks certainly hasn't got that much hair these days. Not sure about Chook though, I'll see if I can get a recent photo of him.

:-D Very cool.

Would be great to know what he would like to add to this page

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... en+Buckley

Also, info about how many Reserves games he played, style of player, etc would be great. What it was like playing in the 1979-1982 era?

I normally have Steve's email address but I recently had my computer cleaned and lost nearly everyone in my address book. I've forwarded on that footycard to the guys on the golf trip so I'm sure there will be some banter about it plus hopefully I'll get some info for you.

One of the other guys on the trip is Mark Kinnear's father (he played at Collingwood) who informed me that his son would have given his left nut to play at Carlton. Also, another guy is a senior official at one of the TAC clubs and has a good finger on the pulse of who is doing well in that competition.

Southport, there was 3-4 guys from the golf trip who went up there for a couple of seasons to play under Chook.

Baynes only wore number 20 in senior games and Honeybun wore number 3 in senior games.

They may have worn different numbers in Reserves etc. in different years though.

While we're discussing 4s: Bruce Doull (who played his first game in the late 60s) used to have no 4. He moved to no 11 when John Goold left. I'm not sure when this occurred, but it had to be after 1970 as Goold was part of the 1970 GF team.

Mark Kerr went on to bigger and better things including as a trustee for Tattersalls.

When Tatts went Public last year the Trustees negotiated themselves a very "tidy" amount as part of the Deal!

Perhaps he now has a little cash and time to help out!
