As you all know I havent been to as many pre-season training sessions as the last few years and those who have attended more training sessions probably take for granted a little bit the skill and poise of this guy but went yesterday after not going for a number of weeks and was very impressed with Murphy - not just what he did when he had the ball but his positioning when he didnt have it and also the precision of his disposal
He wasnt BOG but showed more than enough to suggest that he will play a number of games this year and develop into a very good player for Carlton

Cheers Frank. I (along with many others) have missed your reports this summer. Looking forward to some more next pre-season if you make it down :)

Personally, I think it's great and Pagan would probably be rapt with it.

A) it takes pressure off the kid and allows him to fly under the radar a bit; and

B) it gives the kid incentive to work even harder, just to stick it up Barratt's whiny little arse.

But why write it? Every single story at this time of the year is a puff piece (OK, Ben Cousins aside).

"Campo impresses at an Essendon* intra club practice match". Big @#$%&! Deal.

"Josh Fraser is looking huge, and ready to have an injury free season"

"Ryan Houlihan thinks he might need to toughen up, and has started swimming"

"Matthew Lloyd presents a fantastic video that doesn't put down his team mates, but encourages them to greatness"

It's all just positive puff journalism - as a rule.

"Player X has really beefed up over summer, there's a real air of excitement at the club, especially with all the great young kids coming through".

So why spit on Mark Murphy? Is Barrett a brisbane supporter

Hey this is good news...

10 years ago I was 78kg. Now I'm 93kg.

I'm on the right track!

Seriously Murphy has been at the club for only a few months and is yet to play a competitve match!. What a moron Barrett is if he is claiming Murphs he is not impressing anyone at Carlton.

Just because he is the number 1 draft pick. It doesnt mean he needs to dominate the midfield in his first seaon.

With you there. When anyone asks, I tell them that I'm bulking up to be competitive.

Even if Marc Murphy struggles in his first season and only plays 50% of the games, at least he done more then most of our first picks in the first year in the last 10 years,i dont expect him to be a star at all in his first year,i hope he does but,i will be seeing what he does in his 3rd season not his first.

Hey, perhaps Carlton just got it wrong; it wouldn't be the first time. 8)

According to Dwayne Russell in today's The Age, the AIS guys were tracking MM at training the other day and were astonishing to find that of the 162 kicks he had at training, 160 were effective and found their target.

Dare I say it... impressive?

Massive room for improvement Marc. Those two kicks could have cost us in a real game. You're a dud. Why didn't we draft Chris Heffernan?

Bloody hell, hasn't Murphy even won a Brownlow yet, Judd had won three by now … what a hack!

Anyone here ring SEN this morning about 10am as 'The Shark' and say he watched the practice match yesterday and the blue failed to impress?

I thought it was interesting when they asked who specifically failed to impress and he couldn't name names and didn't know who Marc Murphy was on the track

Apparantly though there were a couple of little blonde headed blokes who did ok
