I'm sure there have been plenty of one sided small forwards who have been a success.
I can't recall Cyril kicking a goal or using his left foot, but I do recall Saady kicking a goal and passing with his right foot.
Obviously see more of Saady than Cyril.

Like you, my confidence in small forwards leans on their ability to kick on both sides.

With Saady, to visualise his ability to succeed as mainly a left footer depends on how much you value his elusiveness.
How many times have you seen Saad in trouble whether its on his left or right, and find a way to get clear to find a way to use his left? I'd say nearly every game.

I think he's too valuable playing as an attacking HBF. Hopefully Boydy is back to emancipate Saad from his lockdown roles on the oppos most dangerous small forwards, because of his....speed.

We will never know for sure till he is given the small forwards role.

why are we leaving the door open for newman to return in 25 ,we should go to msd with 2 selections and hopefully land a couple quick strong players that our list needs . Over to Austin and Co

... and was in the AA conversation last year, and our best medium size defender, and our best outlet kick, and a player we need in Finals for his hardness, leadership and direction on the ground.

AFAIK Cripps, Walsh, Weitering and Curnow make up that group.

Obvs still a bit of the season to go... But interesting discussion.

I was just about to post this.
I have just caught up on the news on there. It would appear it is either Walsh or Charlie.
Rumours that Walsh wanted out at the end of last year and another ITK poster suggesting it is Charlie.
marcshmurf3 hinting it is Charlie.

Why do all our players sook. The so called seniors are the issues. Walsh - he needs to take a hard look at himself. Why would he be disgruntled. He has been shit. Charlie, Cripps, TDK are all interested in their business’s . And Charlie and TDK surfing and mucking around.

The young ones are going ok. It’s Weitering, Charlie, Walsh, Cripps, McGovern, harry, Cerra, acres etc making stupid errors.

So someone wants to go? Mate blame yourselves.

How did we get into this shit again….. mind boggling.

I don't know whether that talking behind the hand thing started in the US or European football, but everyone's doing it now - I reckon they just do it to be cool. If Crippa and Walsh wanted a private word they could do it (and more, nttawwt) in the locker room.

The growth of your players comes in their 4th 5th and 6th year of football.
Ages 22 to 25. This is when they establish themselves as footballers. Once they reach 26 they rarely get much better. There will be slight changes but not much.
We only have 6 players in that growth bracket. Walsh Cerra Durdin Cotrell Kemp and Elijah. So 3 can't get on the park.

Now let's compare this age bracket with other teams that have gone past us.
Gold Coast 17 players in that group
Crows 21
Hawks 14
Cats 13
Even pies have 12
Bulldogs 13

This is poor list management. They know it takes time for players 21 and younger to establish themselves we have 17 in that group.
They know players 26 plus aren't getting much better we have 19 in that group with 6 spending a significant time on the sidelines.

We haven't improved this year because we have a gaping hole in the list where that improvement was going to come from

Syd - we traded or delisted most of that age bracket. I’d say Dow, Stocker, Carroll, Kennedy, SpS, O’Brian, Marchbank, Williamson, etc.
Might have been reasons, but that’s where the gap is. Our list management team apparently knew what they were doing, so no point raising depth or age profile as an issue. :razz:
