does that show up early doors in scans?

Possibly, though hiis history does lend itself to general soreness.

I think it’s just as likely that Jack got his bell rung on Friday night & will be dead before he misses a week for it.

This is perhaps a touch sadistic to mention, however… barring catastrophe, our post bye week injury list will be:

Cottrell - Test
Williams - Test
Cowan - Test
Newman - TBC
Smith - Season
Kemp - Season

42 out of 45 up and going.

I believe the injury curse will disengage itself from us after the bye. Ive been dreaming of the above.

I also make my team for the following week's team with players returning from injury and that has given me the confidence our season will be back on track by round 16, and the run home.

Newman has been running for a month. He's twisting and turning and his return by round 16 (at the latest is my guess) will stiffen up our defence, let alone myself. We need another good kick out of defence, as well as a bit of mongrel.

Cincotta looks like he will need another couple weeks of VFL and training to be AFL ready. Ready to tag Daicos in the middle, or the other one at HB. He might be ready to sit on Merrett after the bye.

Has anyone heard any more on the Acres back injury requiring surgery?

He's been selected.

Heard nothing on this today.

they said a month or more ago he had a back injury ... but he's been playing. been playing like someone with a back injury, mind

might be time to blood a kid who they see as a future wing (campo boys, or lord, or even walsh) and play them there and we take some lumps while they learn.

I think Acres peaked in 2023, and had a few cameo performances in 2024. This year, including praccy games, he's only played one good game.

Once we have players back, and we are seeing the start of that, Walsh, Hollands, Cottrell, Binns and Lucas Campreale are enough to replace Acres.

I know his big body helps, but if his back is fkd as I'm hearing, well...we will see for ourselves tomorrow.

I wouldn’t say he’s peaked. Not that he’s got any extra, but he’s got plenty more of the same left in him.

I think he’s just found his way on to every opposition whiteboard. Close him down & they’ll struggle to move the ball off half back.

Playing crippled doesn’t help.

I'd love that Cru, but I'm basing my current position on what Ive seen this year.

No doubt a fit Acres is a nightmare to curtail. He's a big unit, and can catch the ball at its highest point.

I just hope he's OK. Maybe I had a bad dream that he needs back surgery.

nah ... there was definitely word around that surgery was an option for his back. it was around the pies game.

that could be any number of "small" procedures, right up until the white whale of surgeries for an athlete - microdisectomy (walsh).

i'm not sure in what world carlton lives in where jsos and his groin is just a 2 week injury?

acres looks cooked. let him rest, then delist him at the end of the year.

that's all i got for now.

I think Acres is cooked too.

Scans showed there was no injury to SOS groin and he could have played yesterday, but club decided to give him this week off leading into the bye.

Its good he took himself off at half time with some soreness, and not a strain, and didnt do any damage.

Effectively giving SOS that second half to start his recovery, only requiring rest for 3 weeks. For soreness that's plenty.

Match fit?

Half of the team is match fit, and that doesn't mean much.

Which of those out of the seniors have two halves of a heart to play in 2 weeks time?

Boyd
Silvagni
Cincotta
Fantasia
Williams
Cowan

Pity really. His availability coincided with our better footy. We miss his speed and ball use.

Yep. He & Lij were the two players having a proper look delivering it into 50, & we've been trash since they've been out.
