I can see what the original poster way back when meant when (s)he said Raghallaigh Ó Néill would be just another Pitto, in the sense that he is also a bash-and-crash type who couldn't jump over a paint can, but as others have pointed out, he is a big upgrade on Pitto in terms of fitness and involvement around the ground. I'd be fine with him as a TDK replacement, only issue is that he is unhappy with his pay offer from Adelaide so how much coin would be expect from us? Is 700k a realistic offer from us or is he looking to join the 900 club? If the latter then no thanks.

Crows have heaps of Cap Space and still front load contracts, because they don't over pay. Dawson didnt come to Crows on 900, yet is worth it, and Reilly OBrien is lucky to be offered $500K with options open to them with Sam Draper and 3 back up ruckmen on their list.

If Draper doesnt end up at Crows, I'm sure the Crows will increase their offer.

I think $600-$650K would win OBrien's signature if he was ok with the move to Melbourne.

Nowhere near 800 let alone 900 imo

Pitto was a good ruckman in 2023. Don't get caught up in the Pitto haters. His stats say so. He was fit and firing till Darcy deliberately smashed into Pitto's knee at aCB, causing injury Pitto hasnt recovered from. That's the facts. He's lame now. We need a replacement.

By the way Pitto is not on $400K, ditto Young. Hence the 4 year contracts. They are our back ups. We will need a No 1 ruckman.

“Oh, I wouldn't call him cheap”,
“Well, what would you call him, then?”
“Well, cheapish, but I mean”...
“And the reason he's cheapish is he's no bloody good”!

I’m happy with Pitto but having another is a shocking move.

Surrey if you can't see O'Brien is a better alternative to Pitto then.....................nah I've got nuthin'. Sorry. Not even in the same postcode, not even in the same State. O'Reilly's ability to get on the park, week in week out, says it all.

Yep. I can’t see it. Same - same

We got the 2 wins in the VFL and AFL against Effendope.

We got to watch all the Under 21 players in winning teams. Hers mt take on Under 21 players: Cowan injured

Lemmey is developing well. He’s not AFL ready but he’s leading and marking high and low kicks, and he’s tackling. He’s a good long set shot at goal. He could be an huge asset in 2-3 years time. He’s only 20-21yo this year.

O’Farrell got dudded by umpires. He is such a balanced athlete and a footballer. Will be our 3rd Defender in AFL next year, pushing out Gov, or Haynes

Ben Camporeale is only 19yo but has a strong body for his age, Holds his ground. He’s an inside mid. That’s where his hurt factor lies.

Wilson is the designated kick from defense. I’m not confident we will retain him come years end, not because he’s not good enough but we have to let 5-6 kids go, but his speed off the mark with ball in the hand is really good, and he has a penetrating kick. He looked good yesterday.

Lucas Camporeale was disciplined keeping his width like he was in the AFL. He’s only 19yo, and already has a taste of big time.

OKeefe is a keeper. 5 contested marks in the AFL. Say no more. Another preseason in the gym and he could be our 3rd tall Fwd/ ruck to replace Kemp, who replaced SOS who replaced McGovern

Ollie Hollands has the biggest heart. His kicking is not great, measured, but has a tendency of falling short of the mark probably because of fatigue. He’s a beauty.

Carroll is 6’3”. He’s got speed and a great left ped. Keeper. He’s getting use to the speed of the game. Obviously has been told to run and carry till he spots a target. Newman will push him out.

Lord imo has made the grade and will continue to get better with every game and another preseason

White, he’s OK, shouldve handballed….doubt we need him and he’s LTI replacement.

Moir Binns Charleson meh. I think Moir is a slow burn. Like seeing him in the middle. He got a touch but hers another 2-3 years away imo.

FWIW, 23yo player Flynn Young was OK, kicked a goal, only first game for the club, and Evans, is definitely a VFL player. Kicked a long goal, but a bit lazy or fatigued to put pressure on oppo. That’s his primary role imo. Durdin was held over as emergency.

Kids look alright. Hard decisions end of the year with Dean and ISON coming, and Walker the year after.

I’m not hearing anything about a maxed out salary cap at Melbourne. Not sure why.

Premier in 2021 and have many Premiership players on their list who have to be rewarded.

Oliver 1.4
Petracca 1.2
Picket 1.4

That’s 4M for 3 players

How do they do that?

I reckon most of our draft haul will be FS and NDA this year. Dean, Ison, Gresham (maybe rookie)

What!!!!!!!!!???????

Hasbeen.

No way.....too expensive for depth me thinks.

He can join Gov Doc Haynes Kemp Motlop as depth...hang on...we might be delisting all those guys and still have no depth.

Shit, maybe beggers cant be choosers.

The one I'd love to take a swing at from Melbourne is Chandler.

YEP

With Dees offering 1.4 to Pickett and paying 2.6 for Oliver and Petracca. Gawn on 1.1, May on 950 and Lever on 850....get the picture...its worse than carlton.... Petty offered more to stay at Dees instead of taking Crows offer.....I could go on.....Langdon from Freo, Premiership players like Fritsch, Salem, Bowey, Sparrow, Rivers must be getting a pretty sum too....

Dees should be easy pickings
