There is a rumour on BF that Josh Fraser will return to the club as our VFL coach.

Head of development and VFL coach.
Interestingly he was doing both at Collingwood but stepped away from the VFL role. Suspect he'll just be Head of development with us too.

Carlton’s head of development Brad Ebert is the latest departure from Princes Park. He’s moved to Phillips Coaching as GM of Coaching.

Ebert joins Aaron Hamill, Luke Power, Aaron Greaves and Tom Lonergan leaving the Blues this off-season

Tom Morris
@tommorris32

Carlton has expressed interest in luring @CollingwoodFC’s head of development (and former ruck) Josh Fraser to Ikon Park.

Highly regarded, Fraser is contracted for 2026 at the Pies and will weigh up his options at the end of the season.

Sad . Ebert along with Power and Lonergan were doing a great job . Unfortunate that it is there are a lot of good up and comers out there . I am sure Chris Davies will be onto it .

What I do find odd is that Wright rates our younger players yet the three blokes who have overseen there development are now gone . Bit off that . Just sayin ".

Maybe with ebert he just felt there was more money and less pressure teaching rich kids how to get drafted (?)

I find it interesting that people wanted to blow the club up, sack the coach etc etc, but when we have 5 of our coaches go it is all doom and gloom.
I'm sure we are going to get some good replacements and I know this might be controversial, they might even be better.
The energy will be insane in the coaching box next year, I can't wait to see what a freshen up does to the game plan, players and club.
I hope Hinkley is added in some capacity.

Development coaches are going (just when we started to show something) but most line coaches are staying.
Which part would you like us to explain? :garthp:

I don’t know about great Mick. It seemed to me that, for the last couple of years, the VFL side would get pantsed every other week.

I made up my mind back in 2023 when the whole club was riding a wave into September & they lost the last game of the year by 25 goals.

The muck around with the soft cap didn’t help, but you can’t expect to keep the job when 100 point pumpings are on the table each week.

From a development standpoint, the individuals have always had the talent. But, what sort of garden are we tending to, if it becomes ok to get reamed in the name of learned experience?

Losses in the VFL came when we couldn’t field a side due to 12+ injury list. Let’s not make up stories.

I see this all as positive.
I don’t believe all these guys are leaving voluntarily.
It seems more like they were encouraged to pursue other opportunities.
And while Wright and others have expressed joy at the progress of some of our kids, I don’t think they’ve rocketed into rising star winner calculations- they have shown glimpses that they could be what we hoped in the future. I think the leaders were recognising some relative positives in an otherwise miserable year.

In my view, we needed a significant turnover of assistants - if Voss stayed or with a new incoming coach.

If you aren’t aware of the improvement in the VFL team since 2023 (or just don’t care) then why bother commenting?
