What gets my goat is how the media fuel (pour about 20 litres on the bonfire) this whole friggin circus.

So the leading sentence for Fox Sports is

"Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick has been urged to make a “ruthless decision” on his club’s pursuit of wantaway Blues star Charlie Curnow."

URGED? Urged by whom? the media? "wantaway"...kind of puts a demeaning tone on it all.

"Think about the elite delivery into the forward line by... Bailey Humphrey" (Never mind the fact he's got a kicking efficiency rating of 56.6) "It would be delivered on a silver platter"
Well this writer doesn't know that AS A FACT as we don't know if injuries, if lack of form if game style changes mean there is more pressure on their mids.... so this is purely speculation.

"It looks like they will have to part with one of Walter or Read." One? And that's it? Are these people in the media demented?

Who is setting the trading scenario? The media?

They seem to breathlessly feed this feeding shark frenzy with little to no basis in what Charlie Curnow is worth. I wish they would just shut up for a week or two at least.

He probably had already checked out like our dear Charlie.

I find it interesting that posters the last couple of weeks were screaming for some mongrel back in the side but players like Elliot and May are now the wrong kind of mongrel. :hitcomputer:
Maybe we need some 'vanilla' mongrels!

We are Carlton. We dont like trouble makers or mongrels. We love gorgeous players, who all love eachother, and dont like any negativity. Or else they get sad sad and dont wanna play anymore. Hmmmmmm

I reckon May would be terrible for on AND off field culture.

Yeah, but who here can say that they don’t want to punch Jake Melksham in the face?

You make a very compelling argument Cru

If we're going to bring in players over 30 then they need to come cheap like Nick Haynes.

His club has asked him to look elsewhere, he could be pretty cheap.

The bloke is a froot loop. We've just told one disruptive player to move on. Why bring in another?
He's well past his best and he has serious issues. Look elsewhere.

I think it's a yes from me. Just needs to enjoy his footy again. I couldn't stand playing in a team with the pretentious wankers he's had to put up with the last few years. Goodwin, Petracca, Viney and Gawn. Not to mention Oliver! Then there's the supporter base...FFS - no wonder he drinks! Still has a couple of years in the tank. Reckon he'd complement Weiters. IF Melbourne pays some of his $$, it's a definite yes.

The current captain would be all for it. He’s certainly not interested in fighting the cauliflower.

I haven't been one of those asking for it. If they can tackle, win CP, mark and most importantly kick to advantage they dont have to be totally unsociable in my book. can even be a distraction unless they have elite X-factor to compensate for it (Ginnivin, Bailey smith, etc).

We want Fraser Brown kinda mongrel not biggest tool in the universe mongre. Steven May is definitely the later kinda of mongrel, i reckon half of the Demons list would like to be able to flush his head. without ever having had met him, maybe he's different off field ;-) You can just see something missing in his eyes to me it reads as low IQ, low EQ,. → low salary i reckon, be lucky if nortf or da feebles pick him up for a song.

May seems like a complete flog.

But perhaps we need one of those.

Personally I think we do.
And Francis would be happy if he was on our team and at the other end of the ground.

I guess it gives Dean and HOF time to develop.

If I was Frankie I'd be terrified of a training bust-up in case the second hit turns him into crap again

IMHO, with a couple great additions this year to improve the midfield group, and a KPD to move into SOS role, we can open that window. Feel the boys know their best is good enough, and a bit of luck with injury, speed ball movement and anything can happen if we get onto a roll.

We will pick up Dean but he will be as good as Cowan was in his first year. Good, but realistically, good for a developing player. He will need a couple years, like Cowan has. I see a lot of similarity. Good readers of ball and will beat their opponents. Did. I mention gutsy and good marks.

We will target KPDs tonfill SOS/ HOF vacancy, and improve on our KPD depth. We need to improve on Young who I appreciate his abilities but he has limitations. He’s been the stop gap. We need another for depth whilst HOF and Dean develop in 2026-2028. Young will be gone end of 2026.

I agree with Blight because he’ showed a bit in a few games. He stood up iagainst Cats and Saints towards end of season. He’d be more reliable than Dean and Young as back up if he can’t plug SOS spot.

May CAN fill SOS spot. I think he’s an improvement on SOS. May gave up trying in a shit show with coach out the door in a rudderless team. Lever injured left him 2 on 1. He will free up Weitering, and gives Weiters 6 months to lose some of that weight and be the Weiters we know at CHB. Finally.

That solves our backline. Newman back helps for one more year. Chesser may be a good get, as could the run of Jai. Maybe a surprise HB targeted.

Prefer Charlie to go to GCS, because the Swan who is open minded to coming to Carlton wouldn’t be allowed to leave because of the fury it would create amongst the faithful. I don’t think we will need him if we get our man with @ couple first rounders. To do that we have to let go another mid for a first.

As for fkn Billy the kid, Charlie, the loveable idiot, he’s on the market. He ain’t going anywhere unless it’s a huge haul for us. Player plus first rounders, plus….a pick for ISON.

Would love that olayer to be Walter.

He should step up in 2026, and is mobile.

I’m on a plane flying back to Melbourne. Not much noise coming out of club. That’s a good sign imo.

Go Blues.
