May would be pretty handy to have when we play Geelong if Charlie goes there

I'd pick him up, get 2 years out of him and into Dean and HOF - at his best he would help Weiters, and imo his worst is still miles ahead of Young.

This ain't nothing yet, for the next month or so the media will run with the story as far as possible.
It will continue to be nauseous to the point of frustration. Keeps the wheels turning.

Carlton /Essendon* and Collingwood have spoken to Eddie Perryman younger brother brother of Harry from Collingwood so what I have been told that he has signed with Collingwood VFL team with them taking him in mid season draft but Carlton have asked him to nominate for the draft he is 25 and would be very handy at Carlton

Interesting Keithy thanks for the good oil

Thought his brother didn’t really have a season justifying his $900,000 price tag and PF just going

Having said this these sort of selections such as Perrymans brother we haven’t been that good at so worth looking at

The requests for trade don't happen without a plan.

The interesting thing is the only way we get half these candidates for a spot on our list is to delist/ trade players.

I'd be worried about my spot on the list even if I do have a contract for 2026.

Reidy
Chesser
Khamis
Dean
Ison

Perriman?
Gruseski?
Jaith?
Eyres?
Petrucelle?
Possibly an AA? for a coupla first rounders (not relying on Charlie's trade))

2 of Docherty and Lemmey don't count because we had 2 too many on the list.

Effectively, we have made room by not matching for SOS and TDK and delsiitng Fantasia. That gives us 3 spots for how many newbies?

Plenty of time for some big stories from the media. At the moment, flavour of the month and the story that just keeps on keeping on is that of Charlie. I love that. Just keeping looking that way folks.

No father-son draft lockout, but AFL set to tighten bidding rules

Clubs will still be able to match bids on father-son and Academy talent in 2026 and beyond but the League is make them pay up for the privilege

Come on Drewgirl

Like you I want one too, don't you?

Its not news, but its just been really quiet on that front.

All I can say, without jinxing, all the noise around off field targets we are filling and looking at, look to be heading us in the right direction.

Even if we don't land one of the two AA targets, I'm sure something good will happen. Just a hunch there has been a lot of hard work done during the year, and we are not having problems attracting players.

Draper and Merret were never on our list.

Imagine playing Draper the big bucks, only to lose our TDK compo and his achilles snaps on him again.

AS for Merrett, who would he replace? For how long? How much? Walsh is more imortant than Merret and we have Jagga proding what Merrett can and for more.

People keep forgetting Smith Cottrell and Walsh will be like new recruits next year.

As expected, more great news.

Tightening on the discounts and zoning ladder position.

Giddiup, welcome to the new Tex Walker in season 2027.

More sabre rattling.

The solutions are staring them in the face.

- Make it a standardised employment contract. Pay the kid a wage.
- Once employed, the player comes out of the draft pool. He can play school footy, or for his local club. Otherwise it’s games against other academies.
- Scrap the zones in favour of a capped number of places. If a club wants to spring for interstate flights or satellite offices, good luck to them.
- Scrap the multicultural aspects (pointless if we exclude our nearest neighbours), but find another way to incentivise their inclusion.
- Allow for player movement through trade or termination windows prior to MSD and end of year. If a kid wants out, he gets out. He can’t join another academy without a trade. Terminated contracts re-enter the draft pool.

I’m sure there’s a few bits n pieces to add to this but a logical base to work from.

Bring in a mSD trade.

Possible cheap depth?
Knows how to hunt the ball, could be a good "on-field" coach in the 2s and depth player in the seniors.
