I am gobsmacked we don't get the Swans twice.

I guess the AFL can't let Princess Charles back into the Melbourne bubble too often.

I thought we were starting to make a bit of a thing of Geelong Saturday twilight, not to be.

Fox footy have ranked our draw the 9th hardest.
The start is tough especially playing 4 interstate games in the first 11 rounds. On the plus side we only play one more for the year and none after round 15.
At least we only have 4 interstate games other than Gather round so it could have been worse.
I am shocked that for the third year in a row we will not play Gold Coast up there. I was looking forward to doing that trip, may do the GWS one instead.

So the Adelaide gather round FIXture was just the entré.

Main course served up today

6 interstate games including copping Adelaide in gather round.

2 x Collingwood
2 x Brisbane
2 x Freo
2 x Saints
2 x Dogs
2 x Tiges

Amazing.

And we don't even get to abuse the turncoat

Add to all that 5 on the bounce at Marvel to finish.

Good luck Vossy - you're going to need it.

Looking at the draw 4 wins by bye round and Vossy Sacked

Lucky to win 7 or 8 all year

Austin better be moved on after the draft

6 interstate

Sydney 0
Adelaide 5
Freo 7
Lions 9
Port 11
Giants 15

We travel every second week for 7 weeks. And play 5 finals contenders twice. Shocking fixture and if fox footy think that's only the 9th hardest they're dreaming.

Like I said yesterday, how did we do with the easy draw this year?

In true modern Carlton style, we’ve butchered the easy draw and will probably do ok with the hard draw.

Actually on second thought…..

What are the odds of Walker going no. 1 now?
It was always very low as the AFL give $10,000 to the number 1 player and why would you give that to a player that is going to be matched by another club?

JUH was number 1 in 2020 and got the money. Riley Tholthorpe was Adelaide's second pick and got nothing.

Nick Daicos and the Ashcroft boys were not number 1. None of this year's FS/NGAs will be either.

Even if Carlton finished 18th next year we would select someone else at number 1 and then wait for the bid on Walker later (requiring less points). I don't think we're planning on finishing 18th by the way.

that’s a fair comment from the Giants — even if they have been gifted talent by the AFL for a decade just to try and grow the game in league territory.

Yep and having a bye after Round 2 when it is least needed early in the season.
Only a 5 day break for our Good Friday match vs North Melbourne (North get 6 days).
I think we'll have no problem landing Cody Walker.

better than having the bye on round zero. i think all teams are getting an early bye to accomodate the trite artifice that is round zero.

even for a hacker (index lists in programming usually start at zero not one) saying round zero sounds flowering silly.

somebody at AFL house is trolling CFC.

icing on the cake will be BT and JB flown to Sydney to troll us all game long. with BT telling us how very very worried the carlton boys look lining up against Curnow. and how very very nervous and quiet the Blues fans seem.

also, rumour has it it’s in Charlie’s new contract that he won’t play H&A against Blues in Melbourne for he next ten years, lest it kill his vibe.

I’m not about to run the strength of schedule numbers, but that would have to be up there.

Top 6 - 9 games
Middle 6 (us) - 7 games
Bottom 6 - 7 games

They made a point of changing the criteria to fit up to four return games in your own bracket. We got two (Saints, Dogs) & they’re both at @#$%&! Marvel. Carlton v Hawthorn twice would’ve sold 60,000 extra tickets, at least.

That is not quite right. Dockers, Bulldogs and Saints all finished Middle 6.

2 doubles vs Top 6 (I think pies regress)
3 doubles vs Middle 6 (incl Saints who improve); and
1 double vs Bottom 6

It’s a split of the ladder, so finals don’t count.

Freo finished 6th.

I can assure you finals count

8 games at MCG
9 games at Marvel 5 of these the last 5 of the year.
Play Dogs and Saints twice at Marvel

Collingwood and Richmond twice at MCG

We basically give up 4 home games

Should never have left Ikon Park
