Blues give 9 and 43 to Bummers in exchange for picks 21,27 and 30

Second trade Blues give 11 and 54 for Norths f2,25 and 46

I watched the Harry Dean interview on the news tonight . He was asked what Carlton supporters can expect from him .
His answer " I will give 110 percent and wear the Carlton jumper with pride ". That did it for me , I don't give a fruck what we had to give up to get him coz with that attitude he's worth every bit what he has cost us .

i imagine his dad drummed that into him at birth!

great pickup for us however it plays out. we need that attitude combined with elite skill across all the lines. dependability is something we’ve struggled with for decades. easy to say but can’t wait to see him bring it.

Yes Deez , easy to say for sure but the kid had a steely glint in his eye . It was more than words to him , he meant it .

i love it. coming from the Dean family tree speaks volumes!

my mate used to go “Peter Dean football machine” whenever he spoiled, cleaned up, killed the hot ball, anything because he always did it with emphatic determination and uncompromising force.

I think I'm gonna have to steal that.

Prior to draft I said the result I would have been happy/ ecstatic to see was

194 Dean
197 Schubert / 197 Ludowyke
190 ISON

Rookie a mature CHB

I feel list looks balanced with developing CHF and a bonafide CHB, with Lewis Young as back up.

We will find out tonight if KPF is a need or not.

Callum Twomey
@CalTwomey

South Australian defender Blake Thredgold right in North Melbourne's mix if they hold at opening pick tonight. Carlton considering trading back again from pick 28 even though bid for Jack Ison won't precede it. Louis Emmett, Marcus Krasnadamskis among Dogs' options. @AFLcomau

Trade back to what do we think? Does this mean we only want Ison and thats it?

There are still some good talls, we should take a punt on one of them i think.

Could make sense if (a) the player we are looking at is likely to be available later or (b) if a 2026 pick is on the table which we value more than the the players available.
Is Gresham in the mix at all?

If we use #28 on the open pool, we’ve got the points to match a bid on Ison at #29.

If we can add to next year’s assets, happy days.

If Austin doesn't know what the rules will be next year. That pick swap could be the move that secure Walker or the dumbest decision ever

Great job Nick Austin and team, our list is looking much better. Sure we need some KPP depth, that may yet come through.

I've kind of lost track but I believe Twomey said we now have 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds in 2026. So the new rule will probably be something like, if you have a f/s then you have to bid with your live pick and every other club gets to match it. Fastest finger on the buzzer, a Sale of the Century reboot.

We have the most draft capital in the league for the 2026 draft.

First time we have drafted 3 left footers in a row, surely?

Don't mind if they do. When they come to us looking for points, they know what it'll cost them.

I reckon it’s a bit early to call either way. We’ve lost a fair bit of talent, but possibly made upgrades in a couple of positions….

Small forwards:
In - Ainsworth, Byrne
Out - Durdin, Fantasia, White

Tall forwards:
In -
Out - Curnow, Lemmey

General forwards:
In - Haywood, Ison
Out - E.Hollands

Wing:
In - Chesser
Out - Binns

Ruck:
In - Reidy
Out - TDK

General defenders:
In - Florent
Out - Cincotta, Docherty

Tall defenders:
In - Dean
Out - Silvagni

I still think we need a mature age genuine KP size (195cm+) defender who can play as a stopper. An alternative to L.Young while HOF & HD are developing. Our reliance on Weitering is beyond scary at the moment.

I also hope there’s a smokey KPF we can get as SSP or rookie. We need someone else developing in the reserves to keep HOK on his toes.
