 Good call.

Reminds me of old saying “there’s plenty there to work with”.

IMO, he would easily fit into North and Eagles team, maybe Tigers too. Saints coach Lyon would need him, but SOS didn’t select him for Carlton’s list, so nothing for SOS to try and prove there.

If E.Hollands and Derksen get through next week’s practice match unscathed, I would sign them to one year deals (Motlop LTI).

10 players tonight 22 or younger. With Walker coming next year. HOF to return hopefully later in the year. The future looks bright.

When I look at our under 23 team, including Walker, then add players I expect to be around for next 5 years, like Walsh, Cerra, I think Austin has done wonders for this list. Plus I'm sure there's plenty of space in salary Cap to lure some good players, with TDK, SOS and Charlie gone, and William and Saad contracts ending this year.

it's why this season will be a bit of a throwaway ... watching kids develop. watching the potential unfold.

but 2027 if we can nail some free agents in areas of need - key defender would be the top of my list, maybe a cheap ruck - we could be back at the pointy end of the comp like 2023.

An extensive chat with our Chief Executive Officer Graham Wright, as the start of the 2026 AFL season fast approaches.

Elijah Hollands lucky to get a reprieve.

We all know his class, and I hope he's playing his role, because he looks laconic to me.
We know the Hollands noys have got a tank. Maybe he's like Charlie had a good engine but looked laconic (well, in Charlie's case, he looked worse than that).

Derksen's career at Carlton relying on Carlton putting Motlop's name on the AFL's LTI list.

I can't see why it wont happen.

given SOS is a little distracted Ross might be emboldened to make a move without bothering SOS. soon half of his first pick team will be ex-Blues.

Amazing how many kids we have on our list, either playing, or on the cusp of making the team this year.

Best 26 players: Smith, Carroll, O. Hollands. Lord, O'Farrell Cowan O'Keefe
On Cusp: Dean, Moir, Byrne, Wilson
Developing: L. Camporeale, B. Camporeale Charleson Ison
Not sure: Monohan Duffy

No duds. We are a young team.

O'Farrell and Dean are our KPDs, but we need to Trade one in (after Weitering or for depth), because O'Farrell and Dean are good intercept marks and will be playing together this year or next, along with Walker in 2027 ... and, Rylie Scotland in 2028. Did I mention Kouta and Lovett Murray in 2028?

I want the kids knocking the door down and in red hot form and not gifted games. On the flipside, I expect seniors to be fighting for their spot.

how many AFL players are saying, my manager is too agressive, i want a decent person for my agent; i don’t wanna be represented within he AFL landscape by a blood sucking vampire? not too many i’d suggest (not that i’ve ever met a player agent in my life, just going on the news stories and late capitalism in general).

Final SSP Date for AFL Signings
The final date for AFL signings during the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) has been extended to March 2, 2026. This extension allows clubs additional time to finalize their rosters before the season begins.

Key Details
Original Deadline: February 20, 2026
Extended Deadline: March 2, 2026
Purpose: To allow clubs to sign players to fill any vacancies, especially due to injuries.

I thought it was today but here you go.

Regards Cazzesman

i agree, only quibble is seeing Barass and that Saint defender go to Hawkes while we were crying out for a second KPD. though Young is showing signs of improvement at last, maybe he thought we could hold it down until HOF and Harry Dean arrived but that’s meant we leak down back in the last few years.

given the fully fledged, AFL-elite youth at the Lions this is a good thing, they may well be owners of the longest dynasty in AFL/VFL history by the end of this decade.

100%. i love seeing players like Lord and Matt Carol playing such high quality games when there wasn’t any hype around their selection in the draft or heaps to see in their VFL level games to know how much they’d come on. well for me me that is, for recruiters and those on this forum with footy IQ (which i don’t lay claim to!) they probably saw it all along.

Nothing confirmed yet, but the whisper is Elijah has been told he’s got the nod.

Apparently we’re only taking one SSP so, if that’s true, that leaves Derksen as a VFL listed player.

I should keep my powder dry until there’s official confirmation, but I have no idea why we wouldn’t put Derksen on the senior list too (LTI Motlop)….it’s not like we couldn’t use the KP depth, and Derksen was serviceable in the match sim vs Brisbane….but yeah, I’ll wait until it’s announced before I get too worked up about it….

Could be his terms, or a second offer in the works?

Could also be a balancing act with the TPP.
