We are on the same page.

Time to stand up for ourselves, and for what's right!!

Plans for change, especially recruiting and drafting, should be released years in advance for teams to adjust.

2 years notice is acceptable. ie make the rules of engagement public today, given its too late for yesterday, and those new rules become effective for the 2028 Draft...just when we have Kouta's and Garlett's boys in line for FS and NGA.

This. Just logical, even if we don’t agree with the change at least it’s within a time frame that doesn’t impact current process in play!!!

Yeh we def need some depth at KPD. Obvs they were trying to get Buku in the trade period to fill that spot.

I think Weiters and Youngy are first choice, then it's form related after that.

Great to see Elijah getting the nod. Walk up start in our best team

Carlton have made a call on their final SSP spots, rewarding Elijah Hollands and Wade Derksen with a place on the list for 2026.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2026/02/23/afl-2026-carlton-ssp-spot-elijah-hollands-signs-ssp-deadline

Quote:
With the club prepared to give up on Hollands at the conclusion of last season, the former Sun stepped up over the off-season, hardly putting a foot wrong during the club's pre-season after being offered the chance to trial for an SSP spot.

And as confirmed by 7News' Xander McGuire, Elijah Hollands has been rewarded for his efforts, earning a spot on the Blues' list for the 2026 season.

Quote:
After attempting to find his way to Melbourne from GWS in 2024, 24-year-old Derksen was delisted and joined the Blues' VFL set up while being granted a trial spot over the off-season.

Impressing during the Blues' pre-season hit out against the Lions, Derksen has earned his spot, with hopes of making his official AFL debut in the near future.

Now that's settled we can get on with the main season with depth in the backline. Plenty of mids (cover for Cerra) and plenty of bonafide forwards with Harry the only proven KPF, and reidy, O'Keffe, Kemp and Moir fighting it out for the other 2 tall forwards.

I'm OK with this.

Feel Newman, Evans, Carroll, Cowan, Haynes and Cottrell will be available for selection by round 3, if not earlier.

Lets go.

Carlton have been known as a bunch of intraverts since SOS built the list.
Charlie was a yapper at training, but really just a clown and big kid, but not an inspiring leader who stays connected with team through the use of their voice and footy IQ..

With the signing of Elijah and Derksen we have added a couple more enthusiastic extraverts to the team. You can see them constantly yapping with enthusiasm. Lowey mentioned this in his match report. You can see it on the screen, and they dont stop at training, regardless of the fact they weren't on our list.

Along with other new recruits gifted with the gab, oozing enthusiasm and ability to direct during game time with their voice, Hayward, Florent, Reidy, Ainsworth and Smith, change the team for the better in 2026, in a BIG way.

I feel we are all heading in the same, right direction.

Go Blues.

Derksen gives us depth forward and back.
Moreso than Kemp.

Good to have both on our list.

Can't say I'm a fan of 'third time lucky' but genuinely hope he proves me wrong. Not in the Round 1 team yet as I don't know what he is and no one can seem to tell me. Let's rule out what he's not:

- a midfielder
- a defender
- a small forward

So is he a part time high half forward who lets his opponent ball watch as he drifts out the back to get on the end of a turnover?

If so, can you carry one of those in your team when you're seemingly blessed with more talented half-forwards? He's a bit of a 6'2" nothing.

As for Derksen, now there's a great story. Fingers crossed it gives us that little bit more time and flexibility to get Dean up and running.

You don't think he could be a Steve Johnston type of forward?

I'm happy that Elijah put the effort in and got rewarded with a spot. Let's hope he keeps his head on straight this year though.

Good news our SSP signings and the club has done well with EH and made him earn it

Derksen is a good story and wouldn’t it be a good story given both GWS and Melbourne both just let him go

GOOD call from Voss / club on f/s changes being delayed

Coincidentally I had a spare moment last week and sent an email to the AFL as a follow up to emails in November and December last year on the fact that it was 10 months until draft 2026 and we didn’t have the rules which were supposed to come in December

Asked a few open questions lof the AFL wondering why they needed to make changes after the 2025 draft where new more stringent rules for f/s were in force
If more changes are to be made in 2026 could they clearly and transparently indicate what were their issues with the 2025 draft or alternatively what specific data are they relying on to make changes in 2026

If you are at a loose end in the next week or so send them an email AFL.General@afl.com.au

Start a campaign going :smoking:
