Derksen for Young

100% ... Young. We know what he is, at least Derksen is something different and could be anything.

Fog, only shows glimpeses, not enough, and i think Byrne (from Prac Match form) shows more already.

have to start working on players for the future. Anyone on the list that has been there and playing, isnt goign to get there this year.

not screaming to play the kids, its always a balance, but dont lose in the same manner with the same players etc..

By this time of year, I was expecting the Camporelea Boys to be in the Side and on Fire....Just can't understand why their development have stalled. They seem to be on the Outer with Vossy and not even in Selection Consideration.

Play the other guys and let's see if they can give us something: Derekseon and Byrne. No Point in keeping faith in Moir, Fogarty & Co... They have had their chances...Not good enough

OUT: L.Young, Reidy, Fogarty, Saad
IN: Derksen, O’Keeffe, anyone that can run a bit.

I like Reidy. He’s an enormous man. But, if we’re not punching a hole in their #1 ruck, we have to go with someone that can be useful elsewhere.

Young needs about 4-5 games in the 2s to remind him that he’s a footballer. He’s only partially useful & the game is too dynamic to pinpoint where he’s going to be useful.

Fogarty & Saad both injured, I think. Certainly carried on as if they were.

Williams back forward, into Fogarty’s spot. He can spell George & Lord from there.

Any one of Newman, Cowan or Carroll would be a godsend. Even Acres.

Not Byrne, not yet. Frankie or Flynn Young if we need another small forward.

Total mulligan.

i really hope i never see mcgovern or young in our navy blue again. but i know i will.

saad looked like he did his hammy? And he's the only guy on our list who has acceleration. we could be using him exclusively to receive handballs off halfback and start our run game with the new standing rules.

young and gov shirked it so many times last week. i can't believe they're afl footballers. well, they're not, but they are somehow on an afl list.

The issue isn’t young.

We got smashed in the middle and off half back

cfc has many, many issues. of which young is an issue.

3 spoiling contests and his direct opponent marked on him. that can't happen. all of his rushed kicks out of defense into turnover. mcgovern was worse for this, but young was also guilty.

look at the tranisition points scored and points scored from defense from the swans. and look over the last couple of seasons and where we rank.

it all starts at the back. intercept marking, spoiling contests and rebounding. and it's that first kick from defense that sends it back the other way .... the low hanging fruit here is to blame the mids. they're a big part of the problem for sure (see scoring from stoppage thursday night - it's the same as it has been since 2023), but not the whole problem

We all know who should come out and in but what's the bet Vossy will go with something like this:

In: Acres
Out: Saad (injured).

lol

As I said, in the context of our many issues, Young should not be the main target.

I wouldn't say flogged, but certainly didn't do ourselves any favours with our goal kicking - 6-22 in pristine conditions was simply abysmal. Agree though that none of the players that were a tad unlucky to make the team for the Sydney (or likely to be in the mix for next week), put in a performance that said "pick me".

he's top 3 alongside mcgovern. both just liabilities who don't want to pay a physical price for the team and that sets the cultural tone for this team.

we don't have enough modern list players and we have a coach who doesn't play a modern way.

there's my top 3 big problems.

Yeah , not exactly a flogging BB , more a comfortable Dogs win . Boyd and Carroll were the best for mine and would at least provide a bit of badly needed run to our senior side .

A very early stern test for our on and off field leadership and their alignment.

Deep down a win against Sydney away wouldn’t have been expected. To capitulate in the manner we did though wouldn’t have been expected and would be extremely alarming to say the least. Especially as they openly said that words mean little and it’s the on field actions that count.

I’ll be watching how we respond. Will we show that we are now a more mature club and simply take care of business over the next few games? Or will it derail our season?

Clearly hoping for the former. Can’t imagine Davies would stand for what we dished up in the second half. I hope so at least.

I'd love to see a statement made at the selection table.

I don't even care if the changes turn out to be successful, but there needs to be a standard set.

I was unfortunately at the game on Thursday night, however it seems like I saw a different game to most here.

We were smashed out of the middle, Grundy smashed it into space and our mids were burnt by speed, it all started from there, so why are so many wanting to switch a few defenders and half backs? That won’t solve the primary problem that was exposed in the third quarter. Walker, Butters and Gulden might solve it.
