We are in some serious trouble, and it's got nothing to do with talent, but above the shoulders.
The group is struggling mentally, and I'm not sure what the issue is, as only someone on the inside can identify, but until that is fixed, we will not win many games.
It's a very, very hard watch at this moment.

Agree, we've shown we can play good footy in both halves this year, it seems when the heat is on we have no idea how to get things back on our terms.

Also, not sure any other clubs celebrate like us when they kick a goal. Keep focused rather than carrying on like they've won a final.

Great to see all the new boys sing the song.

Can only help lift everyone’s confidence.

Should be proud.
Must be at least half a dozen under 23’s

Top of head…Dean, Jagga, Cowan, Carroll, Lord, Ollie, Chesser, OKeefe…maybe another.

Possibly?

Did his job and was crucified by the umpires. The flog Lynch was getting away with absolute murder. Imagine Harry doing anything similar????
What about hit on Weiterings ribs? I'm certain the umpire was looking as well but completely ignored it. Pretty deliberate hit.

He’s not much chop, but the umpires did Young dirty.

Correct….

he stood in the one spot…Lynch needed to go
around him….

kindest regards tommi

I'm the first person to admit that my footy IQ is barely above freezing.

But can someone explain to me why Young stayed on Lynch the whole night? Surely you make the change and put Weitering on him, rather than bank on Lynch continuing to miss?

Soft free kicks aside, Young had no answers for Lynch. Play Young up forward, or don't play him at all.

You have to be kidding, right?

His direct opponent kicked 2.7 and should’ve won the game.

Your delusional, toxic positivity is part of the problem.

How many under 23s do Richmond have?!

Both Syd and Rich have moved the ball so easily against us. Transition the ball with basically no resistance and still find multiple open targets inside their F50. Whatever system or structure we have, if any, is fundamentally broken.

How this can even happen at AFL level unfortunately speaks volumes about our footy dept.

Well done to anyone who found positives in that shit show. I called it at half time. The tigers cut us up a number of times in the first half. The writing was on the wall and it didn't take long to shit the bed once again, largely thanks to momentum killers Cripps and Fogarty. They're knew if they kept taking it on we'd eventually succumb.

The biggest issue is our complete lack of a game plan. What is our method for moving it out of defence? Long to a contest. Hope to halve it. Win 1 in 8 attempts? What is our method for forward entries? Long to a contest. Set up behind the ball. Repeat entries. It doesn't work. It's never worked. It's not going to start working. This is where Voss loses any credit. His lack of creativity or nouse has been exposed and he is found wanting. He may be a great communicator and leader of men but if what he is communicating is shit football tactics, then it matters not.

Then of course is the piss poor skills of the players. The lack of spread. The lack of speed. Does it all stem from a lack of faith? A deep down knowledge that they're going nowhere with this bloke at the helm?

As others have said, it is one of the shittiest wins you'd see for your team. As much as you'd be annoyed that they couldn't get the win, reckon tigers fans would feel a lot better about their team's performance than Carlton fans tonight

I won't be watching any replays but in the last minute I couldn't help thinking back to the Robbie Gray game from a few years ago.

The criticism was we'd gone long down the line at the death, instead of just finding a short option & maintaining possession.

Hollands, Young, McGovern all went long to packs right at the end last night. We were so lucky to win, in many respects

Having said that. I hope supporters still hung the scarf out the window on Punt Road on the way home

Awful game

Richmond threw it away. They will be disappointed. At least they have some quality youth.

On the other hand we are stuck in no man’s land.

Our best players are old now and we don’t have much quality youth.

It appears we recruited discards in the off season. Not sure it helps our cause.

Don’t think Voss will last the season if we continue performing like that. May be a relief for him if that eventuates.

We have been jogging on the same spot for 5 years. Like I thought, 2023 was an aberration. 2 fluky finals wins is all we have to show.

Ah yes, the aberration argument again. Sean from Prendercast is big on that one. It's such horseshit. We continued to be excellent in 2024 with our elite contested game until Hardwick whinged about Cripps being too strong in the tackle so they changed the rules to make it that you have to dispose immediately unless you're Dustin Martin. That's in addition to the farcical "stand" rule they'd already introduced to favour teams with foot speed. So the game we'd mastered had been neutered by outside interference. Since then it's been a struggle to make a working plan with the wrong tools.

Grumble, grumble, grumble

We won. Move on.

Reminds me of a round of golf. Sometimes you have to grind it out. In the end all that matters is the score, not how you got there

I’m happy

I dont get why we put Young on Lynch, and had to have Weitering helping him out. For goodness sakes try Derksen. Just see just see.

Why is Fog a best 22. For goodness sakes try Flynn Young, Byrne and keep Moir and develop them. Surely they wont offer less than Fog. That missed goals from 15 metres out, is just unnacceptable.

Voss is preserving himself. This was the danger of us keeping him this year.

What is this taxing game plan. Staying in groups and once we lose the ball, its out and basically uncontested for the opposition.

I cant even explain this gameplan. Its exciting when we are running and handballing. But when we tire, we are like witches hats.

But you know what. I will take that WIN. Very happy to bank an ugly 4 points. These players need wins, as they are already mentally shot.

We bank the win and have a week off now. Phew. Lets deathride Sydney, St Kilda. And collingwood, and Essendon*. Haha.
