Just heard on 3AW that the club has issued a statement categorically refuting Caroline Wilsons article last Wednesday. Who is running things at Princes Park? This story was in Wednesday mornings paper, and it takes our brilliant club until Saturday afternoon to refute the article. Great news if it is true, but 4 days to issue a response - to a story that big - what the!!!!

Can we do anything right???????

This is yet another off field disgrace. For the sake of your loyal but long suffering and highly frustrated supporters - move on Collo.

Could it be that between the time Caro's article was published and Saturday morning, the board had a change of heart?

Perhaps the strategy was to leak it to the press, see what sort of reaction they got, then use that to help formulate a way forward?

It'd be pretty weak if that were the case, but it goes on all the time in politics...

nahhh just a board shitting itself with all the mounting criticism.

They can go out and bring in some money... they can do that....that would hush some of it.

I mean thats why theyre on the board so they can move and shake .. not so they can just sit there and make excuses.

Cant do it???? Stand down and let someone else have a go...

If they're playing the media to advantage then Im happy with that. Doesn't hurt to test the waters. If they wanted to see what the reaction would be like, found it wasn't good, but had no intention of really asking for the money, then we're no worse off. Might have just sold a few more memberships.

It would indicate a form of ruthlessness we've been sorely lacking.

It could be interpreted as ruthlessness. Equally, it could be interpreted as lacking the conviction to properly lead the organisation. The board are there to make the correct calls, not to scare the shit out of us via Caro, all in the guise of assessing public opinion.

I just don't know... if it's so untrue, why wait three or four days to issue a rebuttal?

Worse still what happens if we really need it and were rebutting it???
Malouf and Collo have both been on record saying they cant dismiss that option...
Theyre becoming the boys that cried "Wolf!"

Malouf said they'll see how they are doing during the year then they may apply for the $1M. Says it is a cash flow problem

The fact that there has been an article in the paper will mean that the average bozo will think it has happened anyway.

The whole thing doesn't make sense - if it is a "cash flow" problem and they want a million dollars - there are 3 directors in the BRW rich 2000 who one would think would have the contacts, credibility, respect, reputation etc to get a $333,333 loan each to cover the short term "cash flow" problem.

Generally people get rich because they have good ideas or take steps that successful people take. Occasionally "any idiot can win the lottery". I hope our wealthy board members can demonstrate some of the former attributes to us.

I was half expecting the cheer squad banner to be unravelled and hoisted high for everyone to see, only to read:

"Has anyone got a spare $1Million? Pls call the club if you do"

Heard that interview with Malouf

Discussions where about possibly looking for assistance later in year if cash flow was a real concern but discussions also center around assistance for the Princes park redevelopment or with facilities ... sponsors

But If blues needed financial assistance then they would maybe utlisise later in year but at present dont need

if they dont need it why is it an issue????

I dont see why they dont just open a trust .. like the Carlton Trust.
All these rich dudes plus the rest of us can all put in a some money and the interest goes to the club for a nominated term.. then at the end of the term you get your shares back.

Surely some of the rich/ or any other potential revenue streams can put into something like that????
