If I was Voss, I'd drop Moir for Flynn Young and leave Harry out. For the first time this year we've had a balanced scoring profile and our turnover game was in reasonable shape. Going back to the Harrycentric forward line may well unravel it.
Moir is lazy and won't be playing AFL footy in 2 years unless he has a big change in attitude.

Surely then it could be Harry playing further up the ground and play Haywood from the square. This would still enable the balance you talk about?

Not this week.

We need our bull in the middle, and ensure we have the other two mids on either side of the ruck contest.
TDK will try and tap into space for Sinclair to run onto. Need to have that TDK tap nullified by smart midfield work reading oppo ruck taps.

Fair point BB, I just think that Hewett can bring more defensive pressure than Cripps, plus I am not sure you can play both of them in the same team.

Weitering has been disappointing, to say the least.
I can't stand how Young gets nailed by some supporters for his couple bad kicks a game, but Weitering cops nothing for the couple easy leads he allows to take place, let alone his opponent taking uncontested marks as he watches.

This week, we are playing against two rucks; TDK and Marshall.
Both will be playing on the full forward line.
Weitering is the only heavyweight we have to take on Marshall this week.

We need someone more mobile than Weitering taking on their two mobile, marking 193cm KPF's Cooper Sharman and Mason Wood (Haynes 193cm, and ..... Young/ Dean),

2 Weeks a go: 5 Minutes of Maddness by N.Diacos and he killed us. 5 goals in 5 minutes. Game over

Last Week: 5 Minutes of Maddness by S.Bolton and he killed us. 4 Goals in 4 minutes. Gave over

This Week: Guess who is going to have his turn of 5 minutes maddness? NWM of course!

And how many pemierships of their 3 did Dustin Martin win for Richmond. Without him they probably wouldn't have won any (IMO). That's what the best players do and at the moment we do not have any players who can turn the game single handedly.

And that's, sadly, our story since our last super hero, Chris Judd.

SOS and Austin failed to find a super hero/player, in the 10 year period following Chris Judd's retirement end of 2015.

Nothing:

2018 McGovern (Adel), 2020 Williams (GWS), 2020 Saad 2021 Cerra (Freo), 2022 Acres (Freo). Good players but no consistent match winners.
Since Acres in 2022...crickets... no imports till the end of 2025 with Chesser Reidy Ainsworth, Haywood and Florent. Asleep at the wheel hoping first round picks, and kids, O.Hollands, Smith, Dean (FS) and Walker (FS) will move the needle.

I tend to agree that Weitering has been pretty average this year, but I just can't see how we drop him.

Barring a surprise injury:

Weitering - L. Young - Newman
Saad - Haynes - Wilson
O. Hollands - Walsh - Carroll
Haywood - McKay - Smith
Ainsworth - Kemp - McGovern
Pitto/Reidy - Williams - Lord

Cripps - F. Young - Florent - Cottrell - Cowan

Chesser played midfield the last few VFL matches. How about we bring him in to tag NWM this week? Follow him everywhere.
I'd suggest Wilson but I'd rather use Wilson as a weapon, not a stopper.

Playing our 27th best player on the saints best player does not seem like a recipe for success. Nas to get 35+

I'd have Flynn Young in for Byrne, Harry for Moir and Hollands for Cottrell. I'd love to see Billy Wilson get a run too at the expense of Cowan who is very average at everything, but Cowan is Voss' love child.

I can't see Wilson being overlooked this week, such was his dominance, run and disposal efficiency.

Cowan can stay.

Question is where will Ollie play?

Question is why would we play him? Ollie is not a walk up start. He’s not a first 18, not a first 23 and maybe not a first 30.

Why is he highly rated?

When you average 5.7 kicks a game and 2-3 of them miss the target its not good

I disagree. Cinc was probably our 27th best player at best, and he did a lot of great tagging jobs. Not saying Chesser is the man, but you don't need to be an elite footballer to shut one down.

It will take a lot more for Wilson to Get a Game than get a 40+ touches in the VFL...

We should know by now that Voss does not give Games to players based on a Week's performance only. In Fact he rarely rewards good performance in the VFL. He has no sense of Game Integrity. For him, the changes comes out of necessity and desperation.

This means that Wilson will not get a game this Week.... :donk: :donk:

I'm going to have another crack at a team.

It looks like Pitto and McKay will be ready to come back and I assume that Oli will come back too. I've got Oli replacing Cottrell, but I think Voss likes Cottrell and so he may stay in. Reidy is second ruck so L Young goes back to defence and Dean has a rest.

I'd like F Young, Wilson and Hewitt back in, but I don't know if Voss will go that far. I've got Hewitt replacing Cerra as I don't think Cripps will go out unless injured.

Out: Dean, Moir, Cottrell, Byrne, Cowan, Cerra
In: Pittonet, McKay, O Hollands, F Young, Wilson, Hewitt

B: Newman, Weitering, Haynes
HB: Wilson, L Young, Florent
C: Carroll, Cripps, O Hollands
HF: Hayward, McKay, F Young
F: Kemp, McGovern, Ainsworth
Foll: Pittonet, Walsh, Smith
Int: Williams, Hewitt, Reidy, Evans, Lord

That's probably too many changes for Voss.

I'd love to see them split the CBAs into two teams.

Team 1: Pittonet, Cripps, Walsh, Smith
Team 2: Reidy, Hewitt, Lord, Williams

I'm not sure if that would work. I think if they push more players through the middle then they'll have less of a chance of getting tired.

They could even push Wilson and Ainsworth through the middle at times. We need to have more strings to our bow.

I agree with Ainsworth through the middle. Or best recruit I reckon.

I posted a similar idea last week about bringing back Hewett to shore up our centre bounces in the wake of Adelaide and Collingwood's match winning surges, accepting that Hewett's lack of agility might mean a low ToG%. Your idea of a second lumbering ruck has put the idea on steroids. :) I'm not sure I'd go that far, even with the likes of Cottrell and (hopefully) Wilson giving us extra speed elsewhere.

But I don't think I want to see drastic changes after a game where we showed developing promise against a top side. I'd be happy with Pitto, Wilson and F Young in for Reidy, Byrne and Cowan (or Cottrell if the fitness team reckons he needs ramping up). Play L Young second ruck, or swap him for H and play H as CHF/2nd ruck (we've shown we can score without him, so no more cotton wool for the big boy).

Hope Pitto's hand doesn't stop him bullying TDK to the maximum.

Some rate him Rod, others don't. I can't believe he's rated 30. That's you.

I want to know why he seemed to be a better footballer in year 1 and 2 than he does now?
