For the sake of all of us who go and watch the team each week.

Tell your son to try out for Anyones best Model competition and leave football alone.
He just can't .....................................................................

Not worth the comment

PLAY THE GAME AT THE ELITE LEVEL

But he would star in a St Kilda Jumper with the current list ? All good teams need Houla types, our problem is not Houla its that we are not a good team yet

i told my mum that houlihan played like a girl......needless to say she was offended. The day he puts his head over the ball will be armageddon.

and to think he is on 126 games astounds me. I mean he could easily reach 200 very mediocre games.

Its not about his role....its about putting your head over the ball when its your turn. Houla refuses to do it and everytime he does he lets his teammates down

Because it has been like this his whole career!!

Says alot about how much we have been struggling as a club that he is almost approaching being a 200 game player. :(

He'd have been delisted and drafted by Carlton?

Brittain was going to get rid of him - Pagan talked him in to staying

Sydney Blue... you dont like putting things into their context though do you????

He is still good enough to make our team comfortably...

And Brittain was going to build a team around Manton Ratten McKay Beaumont Allen Murphy(again)Mansfield OReilly ... but they were all old...

Synbad to use your terms the guy is a soft cock half forward flanker thats all and nothing else. He was totally crap last year at half back and is lost in the middle if tonight is anything to go by. If this team can afford to have he prancing around the forward fifty then do it because its the only position he can play. If you are not going to play him there piss him off

regardless of whether he is a soft cock or not.. he can make our side right now.... comfortably!!!

If he had a captain that sticks his body in.. (like Voss).. and that tone went right through the club and was demanded by the senior playing group ...he probably would too...

But then again he has had Kouta, Lance and Campo over the last few years....

Lance told him off once last year during a game?????Which was good...!!!
...But then again Lance has had his own problems with being a professional footballer.. so you can take what he says with a grain of salt...

Houlihan had the second most contested possessions than any other carlton player on the ground, apparently Scotland was number one.

Have to admit this was a bit surprising as I was at the game and I did not notice either of them very much at all.

Do those contested stats numbers say much about them or the other Carlton players?

Jarusa just undelines my point...

Houla can walk into our team.. and were miles away from being a ood side.
We will get there... but it wont happen for a couple more years.

A couple more years? Geez you're being very very nice there synbad. We were utterly disgraceful tonight and with a guy like Houlihan runnning around like a headless chook refusing to pick up a man or go in for the ball( i apologise for singling him ou as there were alot more players that would fit into this category) Drastic changes need to be made somwhere within the footy club because something isn't right. Some people may say its just the NAB cup but geez we had a full strength team in and we were pretty damn bad. It looks like another year of watching Carlton sink to new lows.

Houlihan -

Positives as a saw it - his skills are good.

Negatives -

his lack of physical intensity in the clinches caused at least two turnovers that i can remember that resulted in goals to the other mob. I think his turnovers were more damaging to the psyche of our team than just about any other.

One that is stuck permanently in my mind was early in the second

quarter and he was behind a geelong player. he had the opportunity to

wrap him up... make him notice a strong, vigorous tackle. Instead he let

the guy get his hands free and pass out for a goal.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH to have a guy with no defensive area to his game in the ruck/rover position. He just doen't have it in his make up (no pun intended) to want to hurt the opposition.

I think try him on the wing.. or half forward flank. but not in midfield or half back line where defensive skills are needed to a larger degree.

Spot on assesment. Played too close in and was out of his league. Not his fault. The wing is where he is best placed as a focal point for our defence running the ball out. All he needs to do is run into space on the wing
and deliver it as only he can to our forwards. His value should be judged on the number of assists he creates.

The difference between the teams on the night was the delivery to the forwards. We were continually bombing it long and the Cats were kicking it to space for their forwards to run into. Our players have got to learn to hold on to it and even go backwards until a good option comes along.

Supporters are being overly harsh on Houla in my opinion playing in a role not accustomed to against one of the best midfield attacks. Having said that, the missed tackle still haunts me this morning.
