am relying a bit on memory coz i heard this while driving to my parents place for dinner ...

these are some of the salient points:

- as others have already mentioned, we have cash flow problems due to our accumulated debts. we haven't ruled out AFL assistance, and this is consistent with the board view. part of the AFL role is to assist with the viability of the clubs, so why not dip into this (these are malouf's words btw ... )

- categorically denied we are going to the AFL at this moment in time to dip into that competitive fund balance thingy

- we are in discussions with AFL/state govt/mcc re $10 million redevelopment of princes park. some of the options being explored are:
a) some sort of community facility (hence the possible "decommissioning" of the stands)
b) providing admin facilities for the AFL (hence the possible non "decommissioning" of the stands)
c) ?? can't remember (sorry)

malouf did say that the place would represent a state of the art facility

- we are on track to meet our goals re our 3 year plan in turning the ship around. our financial position has improved, but our cash flow is still a worry.

- pp was under water following yesterday's rain. the water actually made it's way into the rooms!! hence the cancellation of family day & bullants match

- club pleased to be playing at pp next week agains port adelaide (last i heard they were getting thumped). will try to make a day of it for members and supporters by scheduling bullants match as well

that's about it folks (the wine has welly and truly kicked in!!) ...

I think the jist of it is that our debt situation is/has been improving however we'd like more revenue so we can spend more, especially on the football side of things.

But that doesnt translate to a better financial position...
Because debt means bugger all... Most big companies or even individuals have a debt of some sort...

Its when you cant live that you have to worry though....

That's simply a cash flow issue and your overall financial positon can be stronger but at the same time you can suffer cash flow difficulties. Nothing unusual.

We still owe about $10M to the NAB, but the real concern appears to be the day to day cash flow the is (or isn't) being generated. Our lack of sponsorship money is the real issue at the moment.

Our Coach is on the only one in the league without a sponsor and we are the only club without a ball sponsor.

We are generating enough casflow now to service the NAB debt, but not enough to implement some of the initiatives the Board has spoken about in recent times.

The NAB debt is also guaranteed by the AFL, so there is no real concern there.

does the NAB debt stem from the redirection order we applied for last year? if so, wasn't it for approx $4M? the aim of the redirection order was to get us out of this cash flow predicament.

Not 100% sure about this Redirection Order, but I know for a fact that we still owe the NAB abount $10M, the bulk of which stems from the contruction of the Legends Stand.

Of course i have raised my concerns to the club.. i always do as a responsible and passionate member of this footy club.

If you dont care about anything and let things just go down the toilet.. (if thats where you believe its all going) then youre doing your club a diservice.

Make no mistake ballistic , i dont not do anything about my concerns.

Wherther its to the coach. the CEO or the board...

From my understanding of Accounting Wild Blue is right, Cash Flow is about how the cash comes into the business. You want you cash to come into the business as it is needed to make payments. A cash flow problem can be that all of the money arrives at the same time late in the year, while the debts occur at times through out the year. You will have the cash, just not at the time it is needed (for example the AFL Dividend is probably paid at the end of the season). This could then mean you are better off finacially, while you have cash flow problems.

Yer that is true to a certain extent The fininacial position measures the assets (eg Land of PP)in regard to to liabilities (NAB Loan) however cash flow deals with revenue (membeship and gate reciepts) and expenses (player payments) at the time.
