Where i am, i got absolutley no football (so think how lucky you all are)

However, i did listen to Denis's post match interview (per the AFL site) and he was very up beat about the Irishman. When asked about his position in the side, Denis was qouted as saying that he would have to do something very bad not to be a part of the seniors. He left no doubt about his desire to continue with him.

I would suggest amidst the doom and gloom posted here about the result and the performnace of some players, the contributions of the new guys last night like Setanta are a terrific result for the footy club. We are re-building and so we can't ask for more than desire and a little glimpse of the young guys.

And in defence to a couple of young guys that missed on Saturday, Denis also suggested that some of the younger guys were left out so as balance things out a bit.

As dannyboy posted in his thread "come fly with me"...there is a future

Cheers for that LB. I hope Setanta can become a regular fixture in our best 22. It will require patience obviously, but he has the desire that's for sure.

Positive signs for sure.

I think now his training regime needs to include a healthy amount of kicking on an angle and learning to use the inside/outside of the foot.

But his attack on the ball and determination is very good.

Yep thought that was the biggest weakness of Sanatanta in that he has trouble bending the Kick so if he learns that aspect will help him greatly

In reagrds to attack on the ball .. getting to a contest and marking / or bringing the ball to ground he was great in his first major appearance

Lot better than his debut last year when he just didnt know where to go ... he is learning quikcly

I admit i have been a little skeptical about the big Irish lad and i would say i was impressed by his performance. I forgot he came from hurling and not gaelic footy there is a difference he lloked dangerous, i was sitting behind the goals and he got he hands to the ball hopefully in years to come they can stick and he will be a monster

This Setanta pumping up from Denis surely would have to squash your bs rumour about Pagan and Setanta not communicating well with each other.

His kicking was off, but he wasn't alone there. Fev has been hurt by rushing his routine to fit in the time limit.

Thought he was terrific - attitude and seemed to run hard to position or offer options. Poor delivery to the forwards didn't help (again) but couldn't fault him and he offers a bit of vigour up front.

Eddie needs to be at his toes though.

BB was there with a mad irish/Geelong mate of mine and when I pointed out Setanta (as he was running towards us in the warm up , forward pocket) his exact comment was "That guys is a F*&^ monster"

...I think he was expecting to see some red-headed freckly faced whippet looking kid.

I then broke the news to him that he's half Fijian...which drew the response of "Geez, he's only going to get bigger"

:-D

Yeah!

Agree with Pagan. It was impossible to be anything other than pleased, impressed and encouraged by O'hAilpin's performance.

I'm just disappointed he didn't kick a super goal...just to see what NAB would've done with the $1000. Send it over to Ireland? I doubt it.

Yeah!

How 'Irish' is your mate, because how did he not know Setanta, that name and family name is Irish sporting Royalty, has been for nearly 10 years now. And the red head thing, maybe when you mentioned the Irish guy he was looking at Ling, a very stereotypical Irishman.

When you consider how little Pagan normally says, I reckon this shows how good Setanta was. I reckon he will crowd Fevola though, sort of like having 2 leading full forwards at once.

BTW do we have a proper nickname for him ... 3syllable for his first name is too much.

I think its great that a forward having a shot for goal on a tight angle non preferred side is prepared and almost capable of having a shot using his non preferred foot instead of a banana kick or running around and snapping.
