How about some positive topics for a change?

Alright then,
I was at the Game
HOULA is positively the worst 100-200 gamer going around
Carlos really is a 2nds player maybe a little bit more
Hartlett is ok but unfortunately another Collingwood 6 footer playing against big guys.
Murph was good but wasn't out there for long enough

And your point is?

What a pathetic thread this is... I used to post often in the TBV days but have resorted to scanning through mainly for the excellent training reports and the occasional bit of inside knowledge and can say the general standard has diminished considerably. It's truly amazing what a few tough seasons can do to the psyche of supporters.

Houla is not an in an under type-no secret there so why does every fool seem to dredge that up?

Houla has exquisite finishing skills 90% of the time-again no secret to anyone. So is the problem the player or the position they are playing him in? I saw the majority of ball he had with space and time on Sat nite delivered better than anyone else in our jumper, so he has the potential to make it, he just needs to find that space rather than to win his own ball. The guys that we are looking to take on the in and under role in bentick specifically and obvisously Kouta for a year or two yet (blackers in a couple of seasons) were poor and lack the toughness at the contest. Bentick is tough in the sense that he will put his head over the ball, but he still was beaten to it.

As for remarks about Houla 'not having the mental capacity' etc. Who would when you're part of a team like Carlton who are experiencing their worst trot in the history of the club and have a bunch of supporters who pull knives out after a @#$%&! pre-season game, and the administration of said club has been so appallingly managed that we have gone from the league's power club fiscally to one about to ask for a freaking handout???

DISGRACEFUL!

Synbad, I agree with the main thread of all your posts in that it's gonna be a couple of years....in which case there's no need to bleat on at every opportunity at why we are where we are....that's been done. Where here now (in a massive pile of shit) so why not channel some of your omniscient wisdom into some positive ideas for how we as supporters of this once mighty club can do something to help.

The least we can do is support our club through thin as well as thick.

I'm really pissed off at being away on the weekend - hate missing 5 pages of Houlihan is a softcock. :garthp:

Repetition hey Tommi.

So what if we want to get on here and bag out Houla. This is a carlton board and it will get very boring if all we do is come on and pump up our own tyres regardless of the performance and the results. I've paid up for my membership this year, so I reckon I'm entitled to vent my spleen ccasionally.

I accept that I may not be the football luminary that some here claim to be. I accept that I dont know all there is to know about the inner workings of the AFL, but if we cant come on here and express an opinion without being branded a Richmond Supporter then what is the point of coming on at all.

I am excited at some of the young guys, I thopught MM was good, Blackwell showed some signs, Setanta had a few moments etc etc but no matter how much we'd all like it, no matter how important it is to be positive, no matter how much we all need to stick together, no matter how often we all bag him out, no matter if he was playing out of position, I just dont think Houla was very good on the night. If expressing that opinion on a carlton web board, as a paid up carlton member is so bad, then maybe I've gotten this whole free expression thing mixed up.

You were "at the game" so u should know right ... ???

Absolute crap ... these three observations are so off the mark it's not funny. At least the three points you've made are in the appropriate place ... this could be the worst thread ever seen on this site. It's rubbish like this that makes me wonder what drugs some so-called carlton supporters are on at the moment.

Spot on Dukes. If TC had a Hall of Fame this thread would go in as worst ever.

What a load of utter rubbish is being sprouted on here. We have a player here who is trying to change his game to play midfield which I believe we will get the most value from Ryan after 2 seasons as a backman. He has put in some real hard yards in PS to improve his fitness. Training reports can vouch for the effort he has put in there. He had his 1st competitive outing in this 'new' role and still has a lot of adapting to do before he becomes consistent. The stats reveal that he was able to find his own hard ball and still managed to deliver it when out in the open. I was at the game and did notice a handful of moments were Ryan needs to improve - missed tackle and trouble handling tough body contact in close. But overall he showed good improvement and justifies persevering in this role.

The more games he is exposed to playing in the guts the more he will become accustomed to the hits and how to position himself in the packs, using the body, etc. He doesn't have the natural technique like a Bentick to throw himself at a contested ball situation but he is doing everything to improve in this area. After Saturday I think Ryan's game should be commended not criticised. For F#@K's sake it was a pre-season game in February and most here are calling for a public hanging it seems!!! Give me a break...

Let Ryan accumulate a few proper season games before we carry on like richmond ferals

"Maybe a little bit more" than a 2nds player is...... A FIRSTS PLAYER!!!

Hartlet, playing his first ever game is........OK??? Well that's pretty awesome. And a "Collingwood 6 footer"?????? What are you on about?? He's about 6'5" isn't he? Even Carazzo is about 2-3 inches taller than a Collingwood Six-footer.

Are you sure Murph was good, gee there's some positives after all. To my way of thinking, if he got a game he was sensational, even if he only got it once. And thank god they didn't let him play the entire game.

Before you go sending out adolescent private messages, get a sense of perspective and history, kiddo.....

Houlihan was still good enough to be BOG for us against the cats. Good start to the year i think after an ordinary season last year.

If he can play the reciever/playmaker role well then good luck to him. Campo was good in that role ( :x ) and bradley was a gun as a rover making the play.

Good luck to houlihan, he has the talent, but i wanna see him become far more consistent before i get back on his bandwagon.

Good start to the season though... Good Luck!

houlas got the ball, but each time he got hold of it, I recall it either being an expensive turnover or the eventual disposal is poor. no doubt his stats looks good, but if they kept stats of 'effective disposals', I'm sure it would be low.

I hope he steps up b/c he has the talent when he is fed the ball, but when he goes the extra yard and actually works on getting the ball, his disposals have been poor. then again, I'm only judging him on this 1 game, so might be a bit harsh. I'll give it some time..
