Ummm, no it wasn't Lance had seven kicked on him on Saturday night. If Lance was in anyway able to lead by example, then he would have gone back onto Kingsley. Instead T-Bird and Hartlett were left to get chopped up.

Everyone see the T-Bird thread on page three for my thoughts on Lance. Played a good game.

I think that in another 12 months Hartlett, Kennedy and Bower are all going to be huge units. When that happens, we are going to have a lot more options as to how we arrange our forward and back 50s.

Until then, as the original poster said, Lance is pretty cruical to our back 6 and if he goes down in the first month it's going to be another long season.

Some of you are talking like it was Lance, not T-bird, who had 7 goals kicked on him on Sat.

Spot on...T-bird IS moblie too...

I can't work some people out...Except for elwood blues..the username gives him away...

And Mr melodramatic himself...the game..

Glad to see you worked me out by my username ....I'm still confused by yours but starting to get an image of you via your avatar....
Your right Kennedy, Hartlett and Bower are the future,... no room for Lance down there....400k a year for someone to emulate Jason Cloke..then again according to you Lance was " awesome"...I didnt think he even did the Jason Cloke thing that well much less mind his man....

Does anybody notice how seldom our players come off their man to come across the opposition player and spoil for their team mate????

Hardly ever!!!

Now if youre playing Lance as a lossish man across half back.. and we all know he isnt doing any tight tags on any forwards it would be great for him to run across and help T Bird....

He doesnt really do that either.. and by saying "helping T Bird".. i mean punching the ball with abit of vigour....or standing his ample body in a space....

Nobody really does it because nobody really knows how.

The other thing a man in space might do is block for the likes of Walker to allow him the opportunity to run with the bloody thing!!!.... now its all fine and good to say Walker should run with the ball more.. but there is nobody doing the blocking... so there isnt the millimeter of space for him to get that run off....

I wanna know where our tactics for running with the ball are...!!!

I wanna know why our brainy players dont do it!!!

You really cant expect Carazzo and Co to do everything!!!... but to block you not only need to run off your man .. you need to be selfless.. and care about your team mates!!!

as for the lance thing. twice he foiled the man, then third time he tried to smother a kick, overcommitted and lonegan changed his mind and turned the other way.
I've seen @#$%&! SOS, even the great Jezz fall for that one, shit bag the man by all means but a little bit of perspectiuve might be helpful.

Yay!

As I and others in this thread have already said - give them some time, the four people who were consistently posted in the back half Saturday night (T-Bird, Hartlett, Big Red and McG) all did a lot of good things. McG & Hartlett in particular had impeccable disposal, while T-Bird and Big Red weren't exactly shitkickers either and did a lot of running. I was very impressed with those four and can see them becoming part of a very, very solid unit.

Look.. yes we arent there and are still developing...

But Geelongs forwards were not exactly fearsome.
Kingsley is a good player but he is nothing extra ordinary.
the others arent much chop ..
N Ablett is a kid.

Im not worried about T Bird .. and i know we have a couple of kids up our sleeve that will be good back there..

BUT the process of what were doing out there worries me...
Just lacking system... (but looking VERY FIT!!!).. wouldnt be surprised iof the stress fractures kick in at some stage though....

The guy who did this very well for us was Karl Norman. Shame about him.

Well said Dannyboy..

Dont know about astute FF but I played the odd game...played junior/high school footy at Bennetswood with another dud called Peter Schwab and was lucky to get a invite to train with the Hawks thanks to a ex hawks player named Brian Douge....it was zoning back then so the VFL Clubs would go around to a few junior clubs in their zone and invite what they thought were possibilities to trial with a view to playing in the U19's..played three practice games but only did good in one and didnt get asked back...Peter
Schwab did of course and went onto bigger and better things....
Had a run with Box Hill in the VFA with a view to playing U19's but got cleaned up in a trial game and missed eight weeks and thats was that, went on and played a few seasons with Box Hill Pioneers but got tired of wearing Geelong colours and dropped out of footy and concentrated on basketball instead which I was much better at anyway......not much of a career I admit but I didnt think you needed a AFL career resume to post on TC....

Feel free to call me Elwood, Ben Kingsley wants to be called Sir but you can drop the Majesty thing with me ..I only expect it when Charlie, Camilla and the kids drop around.....

Agreed Synbad the best player i seen do that i reckon in recent times is Ben Rutten from Adelaide did it last year which got him FB of the year ... but also did that again in the NAB vs Port

Maybe we should show our potential backmen what spoiling is ... teague did a bit but lacks size ... trying to work out which will fill a Ben Rutton role ... Maybe tell Livo to really look at what Ben Rutten does

Whitnall to CHF and Waite if fit to CHB.Whitnall did ok but when isolated against anyone except a glacier on tranquilisers will get found out.Whitnall doesnt go to help his man out enough. The fact that Pagan didnt try him on KK shows how limited he is.

The question that everybody has been trying to answer for 5 years is where you play him and in the end i say CHF but that means playing a ready made player at CHB like Waite. With Whitnall in the forward line the forward line becomes too top heavy so I dont know what the flower solution is.

As I said in recent posts if Edwards Kennedy and Bower come on quickly then Lance may be permanetly playing for the Bullants before moving on to greener pastures.

Actually statistically T-Bird is (or is at least close to being) the most accurate kick in the team.

In the past I wouldn't have worried but when you're struggling for decent players and you look at talents like Karl and Laurie I can't help but wonder what if?
