Is there anyone here that can check to see who is actually eligible to vote in this election and what the process is?
A copy of the constitution would be invaluable right now...
Its important that we educate ourselves on the process if were going to be responsible members of this footy club.

something tells me just because you have a membership on the date does not mean you can vote.

Can we check this?

The important thing is we have a truly democratic process that allows ALL members to vote on the day.

Last year (?) you had to register to vote IIRC.

Not sure if the registration carries over to this year if you have maintained your membership.

Some info from the club would be handy.

I think its important for the club to be transparent like they promised its bad enough theyre shrinking the board.

I would like to know who is eligible to vote.

Do we have any constitutional experts that might like to follow this up on behalf of the paying Carlton Football Club rank and file members????

Didn't Collo say he would allow all members to vote without having to register?

Yes he did.... but dont forget also as well as that he has shifted the AGMs to just prior to the season starting and they have to ratify memberships if im not mistaken....

Id love to check that one....
can someone look into this whole thing and clear it up for us once and for all?

Yes he did, but it's not done yet. You will still have to sign an acknowledgement that you wish to be a "member" and it has to be done either on site, or by fax (ie. you need to submit your signature). At least this is how it was explained to me last week when I renewed my membership.

Pre-Elliott's demise there was a readily available register at the club that you could check. Not sure if it will still be easy to do this, but best to call and confirm your status with the club if you're concerned.

I couldn't tell you if your "voting rights" status carries over from year to year. It makes sense that it would, but I'd not be surprised if it didn't.

AFL Members with Carlton Club Support Packages (who incidentallly are Full Carlton Members for Voting Purposes) should be particularly careful because I dont think there was anything in the Membership Package with respect to voting when Membership Cards were posted out - so if you want to vote I suggest you get to the club and register pronto.

I think this whole thing is going to be a measuring stick for the credibility of this footy board... if they have not opened this up to be fair for anyone who pays their money and wants to vote they should all get on their bikes after everything that happened in the elliot votefixing debarcle.

They usually send it out separately. I received my card, sticker etc but have yet to receive a registration form.

Well one thing about politicians is they only do things to suit their own hide.

Hopefully after everything we have gone through .. they have put the club first.. and not themselves.

Ok lets not panic.. lets just look into it tomorrow and get a ruling.

In anycase if people want to effect change its important they front to the AGM. I recall the AGM prior to Black Friday 2002, despite the club heading towards a huge crisis, the mood of the meeting was surprisingly one of consensus - despite the carrion crows from the media hovering about to see "blood spilt".

I think (judging by the mood on the forums) will be a little more "gladitorial" this time which is probably a good thing - we obviously need a shake up and some new fund raising ideas, beyond buying a weekly ticket in Powerball.

I'd say it has to do with the legalities of "registered" members being responsible for contributing $50 if the club is wound up.
