Well thats 3 companies just there....

But theyre not spending as much cos our training facility that is being handed over to the AFL cos it costs us 2 million dollars to maintain.. wow what a figure eh???... cant be looked after us anyomore... curator is on a huge wicket!!!(pardon the pun) is now called Princes Park not Optus oval...but no worries when its an AFL facility the AFL will find it a sponsor....

But the AFL are going to spend a squillion on it to do us a favour and we dont have to do anything back...

Can i ask if theyre so helpful to us why they wont give us a priority pick seeing we have a shithouse list????
Thats why they brough the PP in.. to help the shit clubs.. some of which were way better than us when they dipped into it!!!!

The need for a back-up might be more compelling, with the U2 concerts at Telstra Dome this month requiring the turf to be covered for 48 hours — the longest period the venue's turf has been covered.

To be honest if I was Demetriou I'd prefer Collins to be in power over any other person that might not be my person lapdog that I can trod on. I'd probably publicly support them too

Marciblue, if Black Friday didn't happen then we would still have the worst list in the comp and be $6M in the red. It isn't just the penalties...

So let me ask a stupid question. If we hand over the lease, would we still own the ground ? What will the AFL get out of it ? Serious not sarcastic answer please ?

If my memory serves me right we do not own the land (we lease it) but we own the stands. Could be wrong - but I think that is how it works. Not sure who owns the land (I think it is the council).

It is Crown Land - but the Lessor is the City Council.

We own the stands in that we paid for (or borrowed the money  for the bricks and mortar), dont know what it would be worth as scrap though.

malleefowl, perhaps we would but it would include 4 more quality young footballers and mostly midfielders at that and we'd be a hell of a lot more competitive than we are now. And not only did the penalties exclude us from acquiring those players but it compromised our recruiting strategy whereby we looked at middle age recruits for short term benefit thereby prolonging our poor performance.

The debt is a big problem but can be addressed if you have a team making steady progress. Not one wallowing for 4-5 years. The AFL should take a leaf out of the NRL's book on these types of breaches and penalise a club competition points. It seriously stuffs up their year but it doesn't push them to the point of extinction like our penalties have tried to do. I didn't realise we were placed on death row!

Wells, Goddard, McLean and Moloney - your telling me those 4 in a midfield rotation wouldn't be improving things much??? That's not including any potential recruit we could've used for the lost 2nd round pick in 2003 (nothing much to get excited when I checked the draft list though).

In the Hun today AD-spew is quoted as stating the board has done a good job because the debt when they came on board was $11 mil, now it's only $7 mil. Haven't we made only losses in that time? How does our debt reduce when you make losses? I assume because our losses largely result from big asset (Legends Stand) write downs? How does one get hold of the actual financial statements (I'd like to do some analysis in my leisure time!!)

womack a loss is an accounting term, and debt is more about cash and cashflow. We have made substantial losses because we have written off millions from the leasehold improvements (ie stands) over time, to reflect the fact that they now have minimal value (notwithstanding the AFL's comments overnight).

Debt repayment has come from cost cutting and redirection of AFL funding ie cash items. The substantial losses provide for our negative net equity position given the assets (leasehold improvements etc.) are low and the debt is yet to be fully repaid.

Much of the debate in here is about whether we continue to make debt reduction a priority or whether we seek additional sponsorships. i think we are doing both but seemingly not being that successful in the latter.

And Marci, let it go. We were caught red-handed and were bent over big time. There's no point to dredging this up, there will be no reversal. We will be the 'cheats' for many years to come, we just have to live with it.

We as members helped kick Elliott out, can we do the same with Pagan. We can do anything as a group of members in support of each other really. Someone with some power in the club needs to be approached, then the members will back that up.

Having sent us to stand in the corner for 4 years, does he think we have served our time/penance and now are worthy of assistance.

He and the corrupt C@#! on the AFL Commission still chose to F@%&#! us right royally up the ARSE.

Having screwed up 1/16th of the AFL Franchise - the AFL has finally realised that its not Carlton's problem its the AFL's problem.

Only now that he has realised that a shit Carlton becomes a KPI of "The Spew's" performance as CEO of the AFL does he now want to do something about it.

Only now he realises if he doesn't provide 8 games to the new TV rights consortium every weekend then he is in breach of contract.

Give me a break "Spew" - you are a miserable piece of shit - you aint doing any favours to Carlton you only know about doing favours for yourself.

Hope to see you next Monday at the Cypriot Club for the reception of the Cypriot Commonwealth Games Team, I am going to pour a glass beer over your ugly fat head you filthy C@#!!!!!!!!
