Having screwed up 1/16th of the AFL Franchise - the AFL has finally realised that its not Carlton's problem its the AFL's problem.

Only now that he has realised that a shit Carlton becomes a KPI of "The Spew's" performance as CEO of the AFL does he now want to do something about it.

Only now he realises if he doesn't provide 8 games to the new TV rights consortium every weekend then he is in breach of contract.

Give me a break "Spew" - you are a miserable piece of shit - you aint doing any favours to Carlton you only know about doing favours for yourself.

Hope to see you next Monday at the Cypriot Club for the reception of the Cypriot Commonwealth Games Team, I am going to pour a glass beer over your ugly fat head you filthy C@#!!!!!!!!

Agro I agree re sponsorship etc etc but it looks like we are going to need a massive injection of cash sooner rather than later....

We'll need the $1 mill to pay the staff and to service the current debt - not to reduce debt.

Anyone know what the financial position of the Social Club is? Edit: cheers mikkey.

What womack is saying is there's a difference between having debt and being in debt. I'm assuming from the sounds of womack's assessment that the Football Club is insolvent. If all its assets were sold today, the Club still couldn't meet all its debts. Luckily the industry that is the AFL means it's allowed to operate insolvent, otherwise we'd be in trouble.

Read the auditors note under "going concern". They are saying that the only reason we can continue and the auditor can sign off the financials is the re-direction orders / guarantees of the AFL.

Well whoever brought up that nuggett of information about Fitzroy was spot on the money. Whilst we have the AFL on our side, we survive. If they pull the pin, we're a dead duck!

Is it about now that we get the ultimatum then?? Go to the Gold Coast or we reign in the money guarantees??

I will do whatever it takes to make sure we stay in Melbourne. If we become the Carrara Blues then its Melbourne Victory for me.

As I see it 2ndeffort that is the real risk of handing over the lease. We become a nomad, like the Roys were. We have no real home other than spiritual.

But we cant afford it in its current position. If we were making a million a year we could.

I doubt / hope that the AFL would risk losing the value of the Carlton franchise in melbourne but there was a time when the Fitsroy one was worth a hell of a lot as well - what, 11 premierships?

No not yet - but absolutely possible in the future. This why it is important to get rid of the debt as soon as possible.

See - I still can't see this happening. If our crowd average over the course of a year is more than 15K - then it has to drop at the Coast. The pre-season match the other week was a virtual sell-out with a crowd of 13K..... Even if the Government pledge to upgrade the stadium comes off, I can't see them getting it to more than 25 K ....

At least this board are not always fighting against the AFL and we may end up with a state of the art training facility.

The AFL will end up with a state of the art training facility and we will be playing out of the Gold Coast if we keep going down the same path....less talk and more action is what I want to see..as if you would trust AndyD...he is part of the reason we are in this mess and he is luving it...tell him to go and piss in someone elses pocket...

The current board has done a terrific job given the complete and utter mess they inherited. Just the fact alone the club still exists is something every supporter should be truely thankful for. Other clubs have folded under less difficult circumstances. We should also be thankful that the AFL look to be willing to take over the lease on the ground for us. That is a massive plus for our bottomline.

That said we should be looking to bring new people onto the board ( and the board has been trying to find good people) that can take Carlton into the rebuilding stage of our re-emergence as a result Greg Lee looks to be a brilliant candidate for the board and certainly a possible President. I will be casting a vote his way.

I think we all agree we need to move forward with an eye to the future right??

The board has done a terrific job with some aspects but have been woeful in the marketing area.
Changes needed.
