I remember sitting in the old northern stand at the '82 grand final and having a perfect view of Marcou slotting one through the big sticks from the boundary line...split the middle it did! :-D

I had posted this elsewhere - but I have shifted part of this here.

Alex was a teriffic player for Carlton of only very slight build but with extreme pace and huge courage.

Played in 3 Premierships (79, 81 & 82).

Would always be taken off on a stretcher when we played Essendon*, no thanks to snipers like Stephen Carey.

Used to stand with his family in the forward pocket in front of the Robert Heatley Stand.

Alex is one a true gentlemen and still has time for a conversation and says hello whenever you happen to bump into him.

Congratulations Alex.

I think you are referring to the goal that sealed this game - brilliantly finished off by Alex and even more brilliantly knocked on to him by Mark Maclure.

Great memories there Agro - I remember the Carlton Cheer Squad at the Pund Road End going ballistic when Marco calmly slotted it through

Used to be a great fan of Alex Marcou and used to have his number on my duffle coat as a boy....and as far as I can tell the last person of Greek Cypriot descent to make an impact in the sporting world before Marcos Bagdahtis! :)

You might want to check your Geography on that one - a little northwest of there I would think.

Does this mean Syd Jackson missed out?

BTW, congrats Alex, a worthy entry.

Anyone going to the night? $190 plus suit hire seems pretty exxy to me.

I mean, I love the Blues, but there's a limit!

Judging by what I saw if him on 'late night legends' - the fact that he accumulated that many possessions in shorts so short that the base of his arse cheeks were visable from the leg-hole, he deserves the honour

I had his number on my duffel coat. I was about 7 and my cousins who introduced me to Carlton made me put it on.

Are you from Cronulla or are you just naturally a knob?

Alex speaks (and has always spoken) perfect English - unlike some of the "Yeah-No" footballers who currently murder the English Language.

We were in the Southern Stand opposite, and when Sellers shovelled the ball out to Marcel and he just ran in and dobbed it.....WOW!

I hugged Mrs W and said "THAT'S IT!" .....and it was!
