Even though he's an Essendon* supporter, Mark Robinson's stuff is usually even-handed. This latest offering says it all about our history (since the 1960's anyway).

Roll up! Roll up! Take your pot shots now!

Don't wait until we're back on our feet - it will be too late then. Drop all your bombs, deliver all your lines, take out all your frustration NOW

before it is too late!

Because when we're back... we're going to be a whole lot worse! A whole lot more in your face! Journo's like you are breeding a whole new round of throbbing anger that will not be withheld when we're back!!

Good call molsey!

Some of the 'journalism' going around at the moment is atrocious! How about the comment regarding Hawthorn at Princes Park being treated as second class. The same thing as been said about Fitzroy. How did these clubs come to play there???? They needed a home!!!! Carlton did not drag them there - they offered them a place to play!!!

How about this one - the 6am news on southern cross radio networks this morning. "the drugs issue reached it's peak 2 years ago when 'Carlton' players LA and KN turned up to training under the influence of drugs" - that was it - no mention that they are ex-players or no mention of a certain Richmond player who admitted to performance enhancing drug use!!!!

AND......This is what its all about!!

Quote:
After 100 or so years of domination, of bluebloods and prime ministers and arrogant presidents, of premierships and famous comebacks, of champions and legends, of self-indulgent success and salary cap cheating, the once mighty and proud Navy Blues are being ridiculed.

Yes, they have been a cornerstone of the competition. Yes, they have made money for themselves and others. Plenty. And yes, their theme song, the , is a majestic piece of music that is oh-so fittingly Carlton and oh-so excruciating for opposition supporters.

Now, this mighty Ghengis Khan, this conglomerate which pillaged for its own satisfaction and success, is on its knees. And sympathy is zilch.

Do I want sympatyh?? Never!! Enjoy the moment while it lasts fools!!
The idiots don't understand that we are CARLTON!! Part of the pleasure we get is being hated for what we are!! "C.A.R.L.T.O.N." Nee I say more??

You almost cringe before you get out of bed these days.
The sooner we get our house in order, the sooner we stop giving these indians ammunition.

The constant reference to cheating and his inference that the '95 Flag was tainted.....

Hellooooooo!....Lets hear you describe your club as cheats, after all they were found guilty twice during the Nineties. And lets not forget the dodgey internet deals and well paid(and non attended) Stockbroking job to the Captain courtesy of Mr Evans son......hmmmmm!

As for our recruiting in the past..Care to run through the myriad of W.A recruits over the years and the collection of outsiders (fron other clubs)brought to the Club by Mr Sheedy?

Hypocrite!

Robinson is merely demonstrating our success over the years, whether it be in recruiting, financially or driving the AFL nuts.

While we might justifiably dump on Elliott these days, during the '80's he led our club well.

The trouble is he just didn't move on when the decades moved on.

Any Carlton supporter that buys the Herald Sun ans contributes to the wages of flower like Mark Robinson should be ashamed.

He comes from Bendigo, from an era when 5-10 players each week from the BFL were playing for Carlton, and he barracks for Essendon*.

NEVER TRUST ANYONE FROM BENDIGO OVER THE AGE OF 30 WHO DOES NOT BARRACK FOR CARLTON!

Greg Williams, GREG WILIAMS!!!

IIRC it was the poor Swanies via who went to Deisel and said "We're putting together a team to win the flag, we'll double whatever the Cats are paying you to come to Sydney and win it with us"

....and their dirty on us?

When we played in Sydney, we were one of just a few who could fill the stadium with "paying punters"....... and they're dirty on us? They've had more hand-outs than a Victorian artist.....and they're dirty on us?

GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Be patient people - it will come and when it does I'll be there, don't worry 8).

I see for The Bummers he used us stealing Bradley as their reason for hating us, couldn't bring himself to type "99 Preliminary Final".

NBH.... he lists the 1999 Prelim Final...'and the 1999 prelim to Kouta'

Dont worry, he's on the ball.

At first read I thought pot shots... pot shtos...see my response above.

Now I love the article as it's all about why we still matter, why we still care, even though there's a hell of a long way to go. Everyone still hates us - aint that a great thing!

What horror movie?
We owe a bit of money, big deal you would think the sky was falling.
These journos are just loving it, only because it's personal not balanced facts.
The AFL have bankrolled Sydney, Footscray, North, Melbourne Fremantle and Brisbane for years. No sky collapses articles?
Footy club not an investment bank last I checked.
The only problem we have is we built a grandstand that we shouldn't have.
The difference is we showed endeavour to develop our home ground when every other club said it's too hard, thats why we won flags not sitting back waiting for freebies and getting bitter and saying it's not fair like the other clubs.
Basically we made a profit last year, why is the long term debt suddenly a shock?
You can't but Premierships anymore, so why have money? Socialism the lowest common denominator. Proof : Lions and South Melbourne win flags and now the Saints and Cats might even win one.

That's the bit that has bemused me all this week. 3 years ago when Collins & Co took over we were $11m in debt. Didn't seem a big deal at the time as far as the media were concerned. Now here we are $7m in debt, and it's like some massive breaking story.

The media moves in mysterious ways.

it's pathetic really how some people enjoy another's misfortune more than their own success!

I didn't realise it was a crime to recruit quality players and give them the chance of a lifetime to play in the best competition in the country. I was also unaware that other clubs weren't allowed to show initiative and find these players in the 80s :? .

Didn't Polly Farmer come from WA?? and Barry Cable, Mal Blight from SA, Platten and so-on. Why is it we're seen as the evil poaches who pillage and plunder other teams when it's been happening at all clubs for years.

Are the Saints dirty on the Swans because they "poached" their #1 player?

Why have we been on the media's hit list? Lack of stories during pre season so they flog an easy target - remember when Spud copped it a couple of years ago? Lance got it prior to the draft last year - it sells papers - simple as that!

It's all about perception I suppose.

Greg Williams - we brought the prodigal son back home after rejecteing him.....................twice!! Need to ask Pie fans what it was like to have stolen their beloved Des Tuddenham.

No law against recruiting interstaters - all clubs have had their share. Shit even Essendon* have done well with interstaters. He's a few: G Moss, B Duckworth, A Buhagiar, M Long, D Bewick, L Baker, G Wanganeen, J Hird, Paul Weston, F Dunnell, etc.

Add in M Lloyd who was nicked and you start to wonder where this f*** knuckle comes off?
