Glad to hear Walker got 25 poss's in the game at Alice Springs.

I think he will be best suited to fullfilling the "Andy Mackay" half back flank role.

nice one Tommi - remember the days when you could mark down 6 goals for a 3rd quarter....

What are you talking about in the early 80s it was 10 goal minimum and sometimes we didn't start till the 10minute mark of the third quarter <insert whistful emoticon here >

…Off-field, the club also has a plan. 2005 was year one of the Club’s three year business plan, the goals for 2005 were all met as the Club strives to be in a cash neutral position by the end of 2007.

What a load of garabge - I want to see a plan on how the club intends to sell itself.

This is similar to the rubbish that we heard from last years review that the coaching department was doing a good job...please!!!

Agree with Rhys....where is the plan?..or is the plan setting underperforming goals for ourselves and achieving them with ease.
You just cant trot out the same crap and expect members/supporters to swallow it....the trusted and true members will always buy a membership but the swinging member of which there are a lot needs more than party line propaganda to get them over the line....
I dont want articles from Coutts/Wilson, talking about direction... I want wins and a tidy balance sheet .....otherwise its going to be an angry mob at the next AGM and shoving Sticks Kernahan up the front to deflect the heat wont work this time......

here here Speedy!

I lifted this off the Annual Report which is available here
Quote:
Going Concern
As at 31 October 2005 the Carlton Football Club Limited has a current asset
deficiency of $3,817,150 and a net asset deficiency of $3,825,332.
The accounts have been prepared on the basis that the Carlton Football Club Limited is a going concern. The appropriateness of adopting this
basis is dependent on the Club being able to successfully generate
sufficient funds through membership, sponsorship, fundraising,
gate receipts and other sources, including those matters specifically
noted below, to meet its debts as and when they become due and
payable and to continue to fund its ongoing operations.
Not withstanding the current asset deficiency and net asset deficiency of the Club, the directors believe that the application of the going
concern basis of accounting is appropriate due to the following
mitigating factors:
• Ongoing support of the Football Club’s bankers and Australian Football
League (AFL). The AFL support is in the form of a re-direction order for 12
months of future AFL distributions to be paid direct to the Club’s bankers,
National Australia Bank (NAB), in exchange for a $4m facility. The facility
was renewed (restated to $4m) for a further 12 months upon written notice
by Carlton and the AFL to the NAB on 15 October 2005. The Club also has
the opportunity to avail itself (upon AFL acceptance of the Club submission)
of AFL financial assistance via an Annual Special Distribution and/or a
Facility Development Reserve.
• The Club will receive payments from the AFL during the next financial year under agreements which involve settlement of existing contracts and
includes rights for Carlton Football Club re-locating home games away from Optus Oval.
• Expected increase in ongoing cashflows as a result of the above mentioned agreement through increased match returns, corporate
sales and sponsorship.

Enough bitching...time to act and support your club...buy a membership (& vote  )!!!

The article is okay, but still smacks of damage control. I'm not sure what we can do, but we need a public mouthpiece who make us seem vibrant again rather than teetering on the edge of collapse. The recent past is abysmal, so we need someone who can present a palatable, positive view of the future. It doesn't have to be the president, it could be a committee man who has a bit of pzazz and doesn't seem like an undertaker. Appreciate Collo doing the hard in and under, but where's our flashy receiver to do the showpony stuff for the cameras. (No I don't mean Campo) It is just all so depressing.

And I'm getting a bit sick of the AM plastered after Collo's name. He's got the gong, hang it on the wall and forget it.
