Is that the poster with the three pics of him, Tommi?

If so, I have that same one in a frame on my bed room wall.

At his top he was unstoppable; a genuine superstar.....and a gentleman as well.

Up there with the Hirds and Judds of the recent footy world....the best.

I've just read this article in The Herald Sun where he thanks Wayne Brittain for his career.

Fair enough comments...Brittain was certianly instrumental in his early career at Carlton.

Recently I finished up working in corporate world. I left with excitement about the future, but with a little bit of sadness leaving my workmates; but mostly because of where my team is sitting at the moment.

My farewell function was a great night and a touch emotional...great and emotional because my farewell gift was a huge framed photo of Kouta taking a beauty of a 'specky' against the Bombers in the '99 PF.

This is Sydney people I'm talking about ....I mean they gave me this framed photo of Carlton son Kouta. These Sydnysiders and rugby heads presented my photo to me, stating that they all knew I loved my footy, and thought it appropriate to give me a framed photo of the best player and the best moment in AFL football. That was sensational, it wasn't Swans. Well that says everything I thought yep, they're converts to Carlton....and I left with a smile.

Re: The photo

Kouta's right up there against 3 opponents, all of them backmen (bombing out). Two of the backmen were taller than Kouta, but they all were up really high, when, in a blink, overcoming that great height, and over the top, two mitts grab the ball out at front ....with his eyes intent and on the ball...it's a Carlton mark!!

"KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" the crowd roared.

"He took that mark from standing start!!" others cried.

The rest is history.

Between 1999-2002 Kouta stamped his name as the best footballer in the country. He is one of the games' all time GREATS. His performance in 1995 as a 23 year old, blew everyone away, and his name was mentioned along greats Silvagni, Kernahan, Bradley, Williams. I still feel he was the Norm Medalist that day in '95. He has won the most contested possessions in the AFL at 32...and today 12 years on he's still revered.

He is equal to the best footballer I have witnessed.

Congrats on 250 Kouta. Thanks for the magic you have us. I want you to take us higher once again. Take us to the finals in 2007, (if not this year).

I remember some time ago, I think around 1997/1998, when there was some talk about Hawthorn and Carlton doing a swap with Kouta and Nick Holland. It was when he was going through his rough patch, so I'm pretty sure it was around then.

All I can say is thank god we didn't go through with that trade.

A Kouta with 2 knee recos is far greater than a 100% Nick Holland.

Go Blues.

It involved Richmond as well as we were to receive brother Ben as well.

Well done Kouta!

Favourite game was in 2000 vs North
39 disposals
12 marks?
5 goals

and that was with half the game matched up on Carey.

One of the best individual games I have seen by anyone.

Amen to that Scott - my favourite Kouta game too. Can remember one passage of play when he helped out in the backline then won it out of the centre and then took a big mark and kicked a goal. He was on another level that day.

Kouta would have to be my all time favourite Carlton player. This game against North would have to have been the best one that I saw him play. He was just unstoppable marking all around the ground, running from defence to attack, getting clearances out of the middle. I remember Carey getting put on Kouta because he was North's best, but Kouta gave him a bath. The crowd was just laughing all the way through the match. What a dominant display. Well done Kouta on your 250th. I hope you make it to your 300th. You deserve it.

*shudders*

Thank @#$%&! that didn't happen.

Best of luck to Kouta in his 250th, and his 251st, his 252nd, his 253rd... :-D

I started supporting Carlton in 79 at the age of 4, despite the old man barracking for the Pies. As such, I've seen some pretty darn fine players pull on the Navy Blue. Not one of them has made the hair on the back of my neck stand up like Kouta has. First memory was of a goal he kicked in his first game, I wasn't even there but remember Stan Alves going absolutely ballistic on the radio about how it sent shivers up his spine to see a first gamer attack the ball that hard. Too many other great games to mention, but the Kouta chant around OO in the last quarter against WC in 96 was pretty special - can anyone remember that happening to any other player? One of the all time greats, my favorite ever Bluebagger, simply a privilege to watch him play. Thanks Anthony

Kouta, what can I say ? the name Kouta is enough really.

If he hadn't done his knee in 2001, we would have won the flag

A champion player. Lets hope the young blues decide to embrace the legacy left to them from the past greats to rise to the occasion of a personal milestone and have a win for the bloke. This guy has been to hell and back and always remained a true blue blood.

The greatest tradjedy in AFL history is Kouta's knee ops. he would have countless brownlows now, but at least he has a premiership medalian (unilke a lot of other 'greats' !)

Go Kouta and Go Blues.

Does anyone else think that the club missed a goldern opportunity to maket the shit out of this ? We should have demanded a Home game from the A(w)F(u)L and had a massive tribute/membership game.

Lets get the Kouta chant happening early on Sunday, lets turn it into our home game, F@*k Melbourne, it's our patch (now), It's Kouta's day. Lets F#*kin WIN.

Go Blues.

If we play in the grand final and he stays on another year and we play in the grand final again he could get to 300
