Also, I was at a function probably about this time last year. Key note speaker was Michael Voss. It was embarrassing. He had a minder feeding him what he had to say.

Lots of work needed for Voss to take the next step. He's nervous, has a slow (public speaking) mind, and presents poorly if he doesn't have something in front of him he can read. And then, when he does, he's not much better.

Good for you.

Are the Bulldogs or Roberts-Thomson playing in the last century?

Correct, no young player drafted by Carlton would look up to SOS. :garthp:

Yeah, SOS isn't marketable because Silvagni is arguably the most well known name in our history.

Maybe we could get Aker to coach Carlton because his mouth is very marketable. :P

Now you tell me about SOS...

Tell me a good reason why Voss would take on a struggling club and not replace Matthews as coach?

He only needs one year as an assistant before taking on the top job.

To me thats a nightmare. SOS has a vey aloof personality.. isnt a reat communicater the TV doesnt lie.. and i reckon his special comments is useless. He states the bleeding obvious...

That comment contradicts everything Walls said about SOS's personality and his communication skills on the tour of Ireland.
Quote:
GET VOSS!!! NOW!!!!.. one year as an assistant and in...

SOS can come in as an assistant to VOSS if he wants it.

We need someone that the whole footy world will take notice of.

Fullback of the century and favourite son isn't good enough for you or the media? :P

I think SOS's return home would be greeted with great fanfare by the media and bring plenty of attention to the club.

But when you talk about Walls... he was thrown out of two clubs cos he was aloof...

so he doesnt understand communication.

Just as good a player as SOS.. smarter tacticican but little people skills.
Maybe, but Walls was outstanding at both Fitzroy, and the Brisbane Bears (that was an outstanding performance given the circumstances and a forerunner to their great success) as well as taking Carlton to 2 GF's and a premiership before, as you alluded to, lost the players in 1989. But to get that record he must have coached and communicated quite well. As a coach he was one of the greats given a couple of sides he had to coach.

Are you talking about you or Voss???

And Juzz... do you think Walker Murphy and anyone that would be entering AFL or looking at crossing to another club would want to play for Voss or SOS???

Synners and BV have completely gone off their rocker.

Next Synners will want Voss next year as coach-captain...

I don't have many public speaking engagements, if any.

Spend some time up north watching Brisbane Ch 9 summer sport (there's a link on here if you're interested). He's not much of a communicator at all.

He leads by example, through his actions. He has a lot of trouble with his words.

They'll play for anyone as long as they get a game.

And it's a loaded question with Voss's performances more likely to be in the minds of young kids. I doubt anyone would object to playing under SOS with the way he went about the game. One replay of his bravery the day Milburn decapitated him would earn their respect.

I remember a game where Neitz and the boys clapped one of ours off... then again I am pretty tired.

The guard of honour was AFTER the game.

If you think a game is won off the shoulders of one player, you obviously struggle with the concept of team sport.

I've heard Voss speak. He's a great guy, crap orator, especially under pressure.

He'd be a good coach as long as he has his minder feeding him his lines.

Blighty when he lined all the players up to watch the opposition run onto the ground at pussie park.
