Well done Kouta. You're a champion and a humble one at that.

1995 you came alive.

1996 - I was there.... 18 marks in a game.... 18!!

1999 - you made me cry ( happiness ) and Bombers cry ( sadness ha ha )

2000 - You become Superman.

2001 & 2005 Best and fairest.

So many memories......

Reading that, I can't imagine anyone who would've been able to captain Carlton better these past three years. What a man.

favourite memory?

I can't think of anything that compares to watching him play any game at PP during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

It seemed like every home game we'd be once again participating in the Kouta chant that absorbed and took over the whole ground. It was an amazing period. Kouta! Kouta! Kouta! The tribal roar would burst.

We became famous for the giving the 3rd qtr the title as premiership qtr in the late 70's and early 80's. A qtr when a sense of anticipation arose at half time - would the blues kick 6, 8 or maybe 10 goals in the third??

Well only kouta and kouta himself has been able to generate that same sense of anticipation. An anticipation that some form of unstoppable force was about to take over. The mosquito fleet of the 80's and the Koutaman of the 1999 and 2000 season.

Well done Kouta. Thank you.

Was it 2003 that he picked the ball up one handed on the wing against Collingwood at Waverly and dodged a couple of guys? That was when I knew Kouta was special.

My favourite memory isn't of a whole game, or a special final or a b&f season.

I can't remember the exact year, mid to late 90's. Went to a Carlton-Geelong game at PP, sat on the wing, about two rows in. Kouta lead out to the wing to receive a pass from the backline. The pass was way off target (Mil Hanna?) and Kouta ended up one out against three Geelong blokes, way out of position. He somehow flung his body at the ball, and ended up on his knees, with the ball, and having three Geelong blokes trying to tackle him. He motored along the ground on his knees, dragging the Geelong defenders with him, until a handball option opened up. He gove the ball off, and subsequently we drove the ball deep into the forwardline for a goal.

It was a magical piece of incredible strength, power and skill that will live in my mind until I'm carted off in a pine box.

Thanks for everything Kouta. A spot in the hall of fame awaits.

Congrats to Kouta on 250 games.

Kouta is one of the Blues all time greats and who can forget the times he has taken games apart in the best comp in the land. 2000 will live in the memory of all who saw it.

Last year Kouta won the B and F which is a fine achievement.Lets hope Kouta personally finishes on a high this year

The thing I most admire about Kouta is despite being an awesome athlete he has never developed a big head.Thats the best thing about him.

Lets hope the boys put in an extra effort for him today.
