Did he really? I wonder how many stitches it took to sew his head back on then? :?

Next coach needs to have been a senior coach at some level to understand the position be it at vfl, sanfl wafl, tas etc, u18's. It helps on match day with pressure, making the crunch decisions, the person everyone turns to, No amount of assistant coaching crap can prepare you for being the man when the team is down in a crunch game.

Therefore Shaun Rehn is a top candidate.

-Premiership success as a player
-knows hard times through knee ops
-Is out of the Carlton so he brings fresh attitude, ideas and no baggage
-Has learnt a lot from two different yet successful coaches in Malcolm Blight and Leigh Matthews
-Was senior coach at West Adelaide

Forgot all about Rehn, have heard some good things in the media about him.

The article says nothing about Silvagni being a good coach soley based on the fact he was a good player (it's one of a number of characteristics highlighted in the article). Likewise, it says he needs more experience before he would be ready to take on a head coaching role.

Probably after a rare win isnt the right time to canvas this but was listening to Robert Walls and the crew at 3AW and he nominated Steven Silvagni as the next coach of Carlton.
Caro and others sat back a bit astounded but then went on to say how SOS had improved his rating in coaching circles after not really being that impressive and how he is now completiing his apprenticship at the Dogs and what a good one on one coach he was and how Lewis Roberts Thompson had developed with SOS giving him some coaching on the side....never thought of SOS as a senior coach but then I didnt rate Paul Roos either..interested in others opinions...

Robert Walls rates him as a great coach, but he probably also rates him as a great special comments man.
