Headplant, compare it to the way North played.
There's not that much of a difference. The way we played in the first few years was plain ridiculous, they took the kick it long thing a bit too far. You only kick long to a contest when the short options aren't really there or if there's plenty of space for blokes to double back into.
Long Kicks % of Total Kicks
50.4% Kangaroos 2001
54.4% Kangaroos 2002
47.9% Carlton 2001
46.9% Carlton 200243.8% Carlton 2003
44.2% Carlton 2004
40.9% Carlton 2005
The data clearly shows that Carlton kicks long less often under Pagan and less often than Pagan's Kangaroos.
Jars, looking at stats isn't going to help on this one, it LOOKS similar. I don't care about the length of the kicks.
There's been a few things added to it, and a few modifications taking the playing list and styles of players into account but when they move forward it's a similar system, they're just running the ball a bit more, handballing a little bit more and the leads are a bit longer.
