Murphy and Waite were the individuals who will invite rapture from the faithful. The other sign of light was collective. Whereas Richmond accepted its fate and failed to harass or apply pressure to a more skilful unit, the Blues made it clear from first bounce that they would compete, and by competing every issue, they knocked nearly everyone out of the office tontines.

Ferocity and effort was probably all the Carlton fans hoped for. They got far more.

Carlton members and supporters "... got far more"....on offer.

This means Carlton delivers above and beyond the norm, as they're only kids but playing like 100 game players.

The paper tells the story....Carlton are ferocious and worth a watch, and a sponsorship.

"They're a knock out"

Come on supporters enjoy the privelege and buy yourself a treat; A Membership with your name on it.

It's great to start the year on a positive note. It gives the players confidence and the supporters hope. All of a sudden there is hope for the game this week when before the season most would have marked it as a loss.

On paper, our first three games were tough, and the next four were all winable. So it was important to get a win on the board early so we weren't starting 0-3 when we got to the easier opposition.

At this point, we should be aiming to be 6-1 after seven rounds ie steal another of the "hard" games against Freo and Syd, and beat the Hawks, Tiges, Dons and Pies.

That may sound ambitious, but we have won our last three starts against good opposition (even if two of them were practice games), so we should be setting the bar high to start with. We can reassess how realistic those goals were in two months time, but for the moment lets think like winners.
