Good get by Elwood, frankie and others about McGrath, he contributed really well yesterday. Like most of our guys, if they can keep that intensity for the year, regardless of wins and losses, I'll be happy. Just have a @#$%&! go lads, that's all we ask!

Oldy,

Where was Nathan Jones? I thought he was picked to play. He will give your onball brigade some grunt.

Batram was okay first up. Like several of our young kids he will have to work long and hard on his kicking. Always a question mark with him but otherwise he ran hard all game.

Regards Cazzesman

Jones was in the 25 and is exactly what we are missing, we should play him for the remaining 21 games subject to monitoring burnout.

McLean will make a difference there too but it's a sad state of affaurs when we are relying on a 21yo and an 18yo to provide the grunt.

Bartram is very promising and even tho he was played in a run with role on Stevens he can get his hands on the contested ball. I thought Stevens did a lot better when Bartram was off and McDonald was on him, altho McDonald did contibute something for us. Reading Wisbey etc Bartram's kicking is the query, is that your observation also? That showed up with 2 terrible turnovers that resulted in Carlton goals. It will be interesing to see whether he can overcome that or whether he's going to be permanenetly handicapped like say Godfrey.

Bruce was very good considering 1/2 a game preparation and Green probably shaded Kouta. Sylvia was OK and will be a good AFL player but "superstar" predictions by MFC supporters are ridiculously premature.

Ferguson was better than I expected and altho I supported the move of Miller onto the dangerous Waite in Rivers absence he was terrible. And PJ in his place was worse than terrible.

I thought Lance was good and I supported our push for him in the off season. He would have been very handy last night at CHF or CHB but then we would not have Jones and in the long run he addresses an even more crucial deficit.

re: Bartram.....costly turnovers....they were decison making skills as well as being kicking errors...I have my doubts on him...never met him but I believe he is a distant relation on my dads side of the family...

re: Sylvia...not in the Deledio or dare i say it Marc Murphy class....good players seem to have plenty of time and dont waste the footy..Sylvia tends to rush some disposals and doesnt think enough..just bombs the ball....Murphy for example seems to have that extra time and awareness.
Sylvia did impress me with his body work though....strong at the footy and won the ball well....
Travis Johnston would drive me to despair.....talented player but just not hungry or hard enough for the footy....Dees really need McLean and probably Nathan Jones in that team to win the hard ball....Moloney who can win the hard ball seemed to be more content as playing as the link man...

I would have put Miller on the ball and told him to play hard at the centre bounces....Green to Full Forward on Livo ....I think Daniher lacks flair as a coach....

Surprised nobody has yet to mention Bentick's centre clearance work in the crucial 3rd quarter...This boy will be very good!

I think he IS very good! I just tend to take it for granted that he will do well.
