We had to take risks with the likes of Norman and Angwin when the draft restrictions were in place.

Those restrictions are off now, we have other avenues of talent rather than taking a punt on an idiot growing a brain.

Karl, why didn't you show this attitude this time last year? :garthp:

Life wasn't supposed to be so eesy I guess.

Karl may well get another the big time, a la Trent Hotton, or even Archie De Luca … if he does I wish him well and hope it doesn't all go to pot.

If he was the last player in the draft, and we had the last pick, I'd rather we went with a squad of one less player.

We are not as desperate as we once was... Selecting Karl would be an act of stupidity in my book.

In my experience even if the club set down ground rules and stated tasks he had to accomplish I dont he'd bother. Weve done it at my club in the past with guys we knew could play but who kept @#$%&! up on and off the field. In the end of the day they didnt have the discipline to do what was required of them and we never saw them in our guernsy again.

Thanks for clearing that up :?

Karl and Laurie are going to Hollywood... to star in the remake of 'Less Than Zero' Laurie is playing the role of Robert Downey Jr.. and Karl is Jamie Gertz.

CK you're a hard man.

Since when do posters have to be consistent in their views?

I'm not unforgiving...good luck to him if he gets a first chance at another club.

But...he got more than 2 chances at Carlton...and I don't want the club to have sand kicked in its face again.

No Deal.

Dont know what you've got till it's gone. Obviously the drugs debate is slipping off the back page now that the footy has started and some peanut journo has put 2 and 4 together and gone looking for one of the last confirmed and named recreational drug users for an opinion. I'm surprised it took them this long to dust the idea off. Mr Norman, without the assistance of anybody to tell him what to say has tried to push his own barrow in probably the last public appearance of his life.

By about now he will probably be missing being on an AFL list. I hope we avoid any second coming of this bloke like the plague. Let him go down to Windy Hill with all of our other rejects. I would be absolutely amazed if he ever appears on an AFL list again, his chance was 2 years ago and he blew it through lack of commitment. This year he is a has been reject that has been off an AFL list for a year, played no TAC footy as a junior, never really grabbed a spot in a team that was bottom of the heap during his time there. He might have some talent, but he is up against potentially the strongest line-up of young 17-18yos we've seen in the superdraft, what is his realistic chance? He was always a smoky to begin with!! He also has that reputation to carry around. Which club wants one of their players being chased for a comment every time there is a positive drug test somewhere in the sporting world??? Somebody tell me why you'd choose Karl instead of some kid out of the draft? Hard Body?? Tall?? You'd reckon there will be kids in the draft with much better prospects than this clown.

Am I missing the fact that we left him on the list for 1.5 years after his positive drugs test? During that time did he put up his hand and demand to be on the list by solid and impressive performances in the VFL? Nope... therefore, why would we be interested?

Perhaps we could get the lads down at Recruitment Services Branch to launch a Risk Assesment Investigation into this one. They could then seek the input of Training Services and Medical Services before finalising a fully inclusive and empowered report ready for lodging their final recommendation with Coaching Services for rubber stamping. Following processes such as this will ensure we are the winningest club in the play offs in no time.

Where is Someone? Get Someone to make it happen.

The door has been closed on Karl and rightfully so.
Karl embaressed his team-mates and the club as a whole. not only with his drug probs but also his pathetic approach to training and recovery. Karl Norman was treated very generously by the club but enough was enough. If we ever took karl back we would have to bring back Manton, Beaumont, Murphy et al.
The best thing denis has done since arriving has been to straighten up the attitude and only reward players who really want to play, offering a palyer a second chance is fine but offering endless second chances undermines the work ethic denis has worked hard to instill.

PS Karl was a very average footballer at best, he played half a dozen very good games but that was it.

Good luck Karl but not at the blues

Agreed!
It wasnt like he was a genuine superstar in the first place.
Id rather through a young kid on the rookie list before him

No.

Take a punt on somebody else & hopefully get a Shane Tuck, Hudson (Adelaide ruckman) etc.

He is only playing bush footy not VFL.

When has Karl straighten his life out.

Got the offer of a lifetime to go to the doggies with a history of indescetions this pre season and the guy fails to turn up and notify the club.

Karl has missed the boat because he didnt appreciate how lucky he was.

If he gets himself fit physically/mentally to make it a chance to get picked up, good luck to him. I wish him all the best.

But let another club take that chance....not us!

No thanks.

Has burnt us too many times before to deserve another chance.
If he gets picked up by another club and succeeds, then good for him but he won't be doing it at my club.
