Having bagged him on this site for being a squib, I want to acknowledge the Houligans performance: he took the hit (and it was a big hit) and returned, didn't shirk any issues at all, and became one of our more polished contibuters.

Well done. Let's hope it gives him the confidence to commit his body all the time.

Good post. But i'm going to wait and see if he can back up the performance this week before i fully start singing his praises.

2 quality games in a row.

That has to be some sort of record for a Houlihan in the AFL.

Medhurst went straight past the ball and got Houla straight up the guts.Perfect hit...........Houla got up and went on to be one of our best. That took a lot of guts.Reckon that might be the turning point for Houla.

Houla played a good game tonight. He will never be a hard player, and must utilise his assets if he is to remain. Those being his speed, poise, and skill.

He must exploit his opponents with these assets consistently.

Good post.

Nice to see Houlihan mentioned without the dreaded "b" word.

Could Houlihan be breaking the family curse? Stay tuned. :P

Great effort again by Houla, pity about a few of his team mates.

about time everyone got off his back - was one of the best if not the best last night after taking a big cheap shot from Medhurst - not sure what else he has to do to convince people
Played 2 really good games so far this year and credit to Denis dropping him at the end of last year it gave him the wake up call

A big up yours to those who called him soft and a squib last week.
While he'll never be a Glen Archer type, he certainly has improved his agression towards the ball and is now taking hits.

Good work, Hoops.

I'm happy he's doing well so far this year. Hopefully he'll keep this up for the rest of the year.

Thought the knock on him last night was a bit rough, but he did come back to be one of our best. :P

houla was good last night. dunno if i'd get over excited about him taking the hit. he didn't see it coming. but after copping a hit he didn't go to water and played a great game.

Currently leading in disposals after 2 good games (unlike a few others who've been less consistent). And had 10 contested possessions last night (equal highest with Kouta). 8th in entire AFL for kicks. :-D
