And there will be no more sanctury of the boundary line according to the DVD. Even if you boot the ball forward 75m it will be a free kick if it goes out of bounds.

Fair point, but it goes on a dozen times a match. It's pathetic to watch. Either ping it or don't.

Maybe footy needs to implement some sort of soccer/hockey/basketball/netball rule that if the ball is kicked out, and isn't touched before going OB, then it's an immediate free and turnover, and the throw-in is reserved for the ball going OB in general play, punched out, etc.

Doesn't "knocking someone off" mean you kill them?

I thought using the term rooting was crossing a line.

The umpire who made the bad decisions is a guy called Stefan Grun. I know him a bit. Played some tennis and golf against him, and did a fair few uni subjects with him too. He's one of these frustrated umpires - as in, wishes he could have been a footballer, but seeing as he was no chop decided to join the umpiring fraternity. But (and this will surprise no one) he always HATED Carlton. I ran a footy tipping comp at uni in '95 with him in it - and he would have only tipped us in about half the matches. He was the guy who was first into me when we lost to the Swannies and the Saints that year. In the end he didn't have much to smile about back then - but he's sure as hell making up for it now. His 'worst' decision against us was actually in Adelaide last year. One of the Crows kicked for goal, but Livo was on the line waiting to touch it. I forget which Crows player it was, but he came through, and absolutely steamrolled Livo, and the ball went over the line at a height of about one metre. Carlton are standing around protesting, and what does Grun do? Runs up to the goal umpire and tells him to signal all clear. I wonder how many other umps hate us?

he's not. he kept putting it in the wrong hole, and eventually she got frustrated and ignored his stating it was an accident. "Deliberate out of bounds".

You mean she could actually feel it?

Gives new meaning to "Rushed behind"

When I saw this thread had made it to a second page, I figured this would happen. :P

"In the back."

"MmmMMMMMM TOO FAR."

"Holding the ball!"

"Not 15 Jeff." (cms)

Lance has always been lauded as one of the smartest footballers going 'round (excuse the pun)... Could it be that Geischen's mob have decided that since Lance is soooo clever, anything going outta bounds from him, either by hand or foot, would have to be deemed deliberate? 8)
