Could end up being...

But some say Saddington played well on the weekend, while others say he didn't.

What did Livo do wrong in the last two weeks. He wont be dropped need him for team balance. Thorton is not a full back.

While I agree with KK that Sydney really did play above themselves, I still wouldn't consider them anything other than extremely dangerous. Apart from a pre-season drubbing we gave them a couple of seasons ago , they have shown us the footy for many years now

I would love to smack them, but a sure-thing, I don't think so

Nothing in footy is a surety. Just ask any Essendon* player who played in that famous...

We still have to do the basic things in footy, hit your targets, apply pressure on the ball carrier, go hard at the footy when it's in dispute, and do the team things.

PJ, Saddo was just described as having a solid game, he's been said to look like he will slot into our defensive half nicely.

Good to hear.

What are his chances like for this week?

With Fisher being injured, and Deluca playing shithouse, we are really missing a 3rd marking forward. Fevola is gonna get at least a double-teamed defence on him so it's really important that our other forward kicking goals, if we are going to drop Deluca, please bring in another foward, or bring in Saddington, and push Whitnall up foward.

Livo started on McPharlin, and did nothing (wrong or right), nor did McPharlin, then in the 2Q bang bang bang McPharlin 3 goals, Livo off...for the rest of the game. He must have been injured or just totally out of favour. He's not listed as injured.

If Livo isn't shown the faith in his ability to nullify McPharlin, Pavlich or Longmuir by the coaching staff, then I can't see Pagan picking him to mind fast leading swans fwds such as Hall, Goodes, O'Keefe, O'loughlin or Davis, furthermore they don't tend to hang around the teeth of goals too much except for O'Loughlin; and that's a possibile match. That all depends on the unknown, the delivery from their midfield.

I think it will be

IN: Prendergast, Saddington OUT: DeLuca, Livingston

If there's 3 changes it may be Setanta for Chambers.

IMO Sporn and Chambers played good second halves against Freo. I favour the opinion of another poster who thought that Sporn is made for the HBF. Sporn has just overtaken Bannister for the HB role at this stage in my books. That's because I'd like the luxury of releasing Walker and Lappin upfield. Both would be good in the midfield.Just as McGrath releases Carrazzo to the midfield.

I definetely would go

IN: Setanta, Prendergast Saddington OUT: DeLuca, Chambers, Livingston

Prenders to tag Goodes.

Livo I only suggest this because I think the coaching staff has lost faith him at this early stage of the season. We need Livo because Thornton is not the FB I thought he could be for mine.

I reckon it will be Whitnall on Hall.

Pretty good if he can run out a game I'd say.

So going on form, Deluca out for Kennedy (not as CHF, just in the forward line as a solid option), Saddo for Sporn, but who for Chambers? Do not say Russell because his form doesn't warrant it. Blackwell a possibility if he can withstand the physical side of senior footy?

Can we get a current weight on Blackers Cazz et al?

I suppose we can go with Santy/Bower/Edwards on a wing if form permits any of them, we're not going to be troubled for pace by Sydney.

Fine then, Saddo for Chambers, Deluca for someone who is fit and ready, which I forgot that Santy and Kennedy are not.

Out: Deluca, Chambers
In: Saddington, ?

Possible candidates: Teague, Wiggins, Bannister, Longmuir, Prenda, Bryan

These are not my choices, these are simply blokes who are ready to play and are fit. From that list I would choose either Prenda or Teague.

Prenda for mine. So:

Out: Deluca, Chambers
In: Saddington, Prendergast

Later on in the year the lineup will start to look like this:

B: Saddington Hartlett McGrath
HB: Walker Thornton Lappin
C: Murphy Carrazzo Simpson
HF: Fisher Waite Houlihan
F: Betts Fevola Whitnall

R: French Bentick Stevens

Int: McLaren, Kennedy, Koutafidies, with the last spot rotating.

That's of course subject to form and players like Hartlett, Kennedy, Saddington and McGrath could easily slide back into the VFL if their form drops off with players like Livo, Russell, Scotland, O'hAilplin etc coming through.

Stuff tagging against Sydney. Take them on in full on attacking fashion and we will win, and win well!!

No to Prendergast, not worth waisting a midfield role on for the sake of tagging Goodes. Bring in Saddles for Barry Hall, move Whitnall to CHF, drop Livo (No Match ups) for another running player.

In: Saddington, Bannister or Russell
Out: Livo, Deluca

jimmae, they (Saddo and kennedy) may not have been in peak fitness last weekend but they could by this weekend. If Setanta stops flogging himself on the training track, and Kennedy is only required for a HF/F/Inerchange position then they'd be right. Setanta should get the position back he had before his injury. He's ready and itching to step up to taste the next level again.

Santy needs a game or two before he's right physically and he should be firing at that point in which case he comes in.

Saddo is good to go but isn't setting the world on fire, nor do we expect him to be.

Kennedy was pretty stuffed after the first half on the weekend, that's a detail I forgot about earlier. Going on that he's going to need another month maybe a bit less to be match fit. Once he is he should get a call up.

Player Injury Return
Brad Fisher Hamstring 3 Weeks
Adam Hartlett Hamstring Test

Jarrad Waite Quad Test

Waite?

Seems like Fisher is still stuck on 3 weeks!

Lappin, French and Waite all finished on the ground.

Waite's probably pulled up a bit sore, or aggrivated a niggle that he had coming into the game. You'd think he'd be right though.

I'm more interested in why the afl.com.au one from this morning differs from the carltonfc.com.au one released tonight.

here goes my prediction, my last week came true, Fisher replaced by Chambers, as i knew they would give him a game in Perth.

out this week Chambers and Deluca(May survive) while Livingston deserves another week, but must not play on Barry Hall or it could be curtains for him.

In This Week hopefully Kennedy and Saddington
with fingers cross for Ohalipan (unlikely)

Wildcard but i doubt it, Wiggins or Blackwell while Prendergast and Bannister, i'm not sure if both fits in Carlton plans any more even thou they playing well in the VFL.

I'd love to see Kennedy out there against the Swans in the famous #5 guernsey.

Would be awesome.
