Lappin, French and Waite all finished on the ground.

Waite's probably pulled up a bit sore, or aggrivated a niggle that he had coming into the game. You'd think he'd be right though.

I'm more interested in why the carltonfc.com.au one from this morning differs from the carltonfc.com.au one released tonight.

Waite out for at least two. Lappin also very doubtful.

I believe that we can win this game and will actually be disappointed if we do not win it. The key is Barry Hall as usual, no matter what else we do, if we can at least negate his influence we're a big show and if we can shut him down altogether then we'll win. If he dominates then it'll be very tough. He didn't play all that well against Port last week though which worries me. However we haven't beaten Sydney since 2000 so we're probably just about due to beat them.

Like some others on here it would seem I really don't think Sydney is all that good a side, certainly not when compared to other Premiership sides over the years. Whether or not they beat us this Saturday night won't change that for me, and whilst they are dangerous up forward and usually pretty tight in defence I still reckon they overachieve.

Would love to see Kennedy like everyone else but how realistic could it be having just come back from injury and played only one VFL match? I would have thought that we'd give him a couple more in the VFLand the same with Saddington given his recent injury.

Kennelly is going to play this weekend

Not good signs

Have to settle for a competitive effort once again

NO win this week :(

He certainly makes a difference, but i still think we can win. If Waite can back up Fev a bit more and some other people help out with the goals, i think our backline is capable enough to keep the Swans quiter than usual, if we play with the same attack on ball and player as we did against Melbourne and Freo in the second half, we can do it.

Our attack on the ball is fine so far this year
Our gameplan is ok
Our matchups and selections are not to bad

Its our bloody disposal of the football that lets us down

If we cough the ball up into the forward 50 like we did last week

Kennelly and Barry will run that ball out and slaughter us

I suppose after three years of bombing it in . It is a bit much to suddenly expect our players to hit a leading targets

We won't win because Kennelly is going to play? I've heard it all now.

Did Kennelly win Sydney the premiership? No he did not. It was the ability of Sydney to play as a team, like we did against Melbourne and the second half against Freo. If anyone had been watching Sydney play the past two weeks, you would realise the team aspect has disappeared, hence makes them extremely beatable as from a talent perspective, they are a team of goers with a couple of superstars.

He adds so much to the structure up back and provides a lot of run out of defence - He makes a hugh difference to that side . this bloke has the ability to lift the whole team - Dont be surprised what a difference one positive footballer can have on a team

Also we now going to have this to contend with .

Dont tell me the umpires will not be taking note of this

All the signs are good for the Swans

This will be a better reason for Carlton to win, to show character and win against a team who will throw everything at us. Now we will se what we are capable of.

I'd be more worried about preacher's post about waite, and possibly lappin, missing, rather than Kenneally.

Without Waite, in addition to Fisher, we have very few marking options in that forward line. We're already struggling based on ADL's output last week. If we cant bring in someone to replace Waite who is a good mark we may as well give up now - their swarming defence with or without the Irishman will be hard.

Options:
* Whitnall killed them last year? No natural matchup for him in defence.
* Kennedy - underdone but promising
* Bryan - ????

I'm a bit worried about stage fright. We've been off the radar for the first two weeks and the worst case scenario would be to put in a bad one on prime time.

What's this?

Waite out for two weeks with a quad? True?

That wasn't part of the script for this Saturday.

It makes a big difference to our rebuilding and forward structure to have Fisher and Waite out. A BIG difference.

My ideal line up for the fowardline against Sydney would be:

HF: Fisher Waite Murphy/ Houlihan
F: Betts Fevola O'hAlpin

What would it become if Waite and Fisher are out?

HF: Murphy xxxxx xxxxxx
F: Betts Fevola O'hAlpin

Does it save DeLuca?

Tell me it's not true.

Well they're certainly pulling out all the stops to get Sydney over the line of the weekend. The players have been called fat, lazy, and washed-up in the media and accused of not working for each other to fire them up, they're rushing back Kennelly, and Roos has had a subtle dig at the umpries just to make sure they get the 50:50 calls.

Strikes me as a good game to stick it up the establishment by winning. The noise on Waite is a worry though.

Keneally will give them a lift if he plays and Paul Williams also looks like being fit and is a player who seems to play well against us....with Waite maybe out and Fisher out it makes us less potent up forward and a unhealthy reliance on Fev.
I would play Kennedy.....or maybe play Lance at CHF..dont see a real obvious matchup for Lance down back either, even though I would like Lance filling up the spaces for Hall to lead into..getting a best fit player for him isnt so easy...ditto for Oloughlin...

I'd like to see Setanta or Kennedy in for Chambers & Saddington in for DeLuca. We need as many tall forwards in as possible to take the heat off Fevola & Chambers & DeLuca I don't think deserve another game in the 1's. If Waite is out it's going to make the job extremely tough.

Channel 10 said last night he's out for at least another week with the shoulder. If he's back, maybe someone could "test" it....

Roos actually spent a lot of time defending the players saying they weren't complacent and bigheads. So, hopefully, he's nursing them a bit, which will let the complacency continue.

Bigheads: Williams, Davis, Goodes, O'Loughlin (50/50 on that), Hall.

I think they will expect to walk over us. Let's show them they couldn't be more wrong.

Not sure about the umps, but as long as Goldsphincter or McClown isn't umpiring, we shouldn't do too bad. Whoever's on Hall should watch out though.

Yeh I would blame the new gameplan and Denis for Lappin kicking the ball straight to Pavlich in the goalsquare and I would also blame the new gameplan and Denis for Marc Murphy dropping that mark just forward of the centre square in the first quarter which cost us another goal.

Don't be surprised if he's a late scratching.

Williams with a corky may help us too.

Waite out makes it a bit harder for us.
Need another tall target up forward and DeLuca isn't the answer.
I'm with Elwood and I'd bring in Kennedy.
Perfect opportunity to play him in the forward line now that Waite isn't playing.
Same could be said with Setanta.

Blokes to be considered this week, IMO, are...Kennedy, Saddington, O'hAilpin and Prendergast.

Blokes who are a chance to be dropped...Waite (gone if the quad is sore) and DeLuca.

In the end I reckon we'll go with Prendergast and one of Kennedy/O'hAilpin for DeLuca and Waite.
