Nathan Brown would be the only left footer with a decent right foot kick.

Jason Akermanis?

Probably the best opposite foot kick I've ever seen.

Darren Jarmen was pretty good on both sides.

DeLuca is worth persevering with. He also has 2 years of contract left. I would leave him in the Bullants like others have suggested, only to come back when

1. he has starred and is too good at that level (VFL)
2. a new hand glew is used to help him mark
3. puts on a few more kg's. Gets brushed off ball too easily.
4. He is a better option than Setanta, Kennedy and Hartlett/Whitnall if they are moved out of defence.

Glad to see this discussion about DeLuca. Have been waiting a few of days to be able to log on and have my say.
Agree with those who think he has nothing to offer. Is light on in body and agro, terrible mark and for someone his size has no "presence".
Haven't seen any evidence of so called good work below his knees but at 202cm he should be marking the pill not scooping it off the ground.
Clearly Denis doesn't rate him as a ruck.
There is something to be said for allowing more time with talls and allowing up and down performances with young players. However, I havent seen anything in the last couple of seasons that suggest that he has "it". So no other option but to let him go.

It's a bit of a worry when a player in the AFL, keeps dropping easy marks.

I have said it before he miss times his marks and snatches at them.

I have seen others do this - Ie Ratten -Mckernan- Barry Hall- Kernahan all usually in night games

Deluca go and get your bloody eyes checked

I watched the Freo game again last night and made a point to watch DeLuca who had a shocker. Almost every time he went near the ball he fumbled or went to ground. Somoene his size shouldn't be so easy to push over.
He also has very hard hands, I think it was someone on here who jokes that "DeLuca" is Italian for "Two grabs".

Safe to say it is a technique and confidence issue but SB may have a point, issues with visual acuity are magnified under white light.

Plenty of things for Adrian to work on, but he has the time and the resources at his disposal to do it.

yep, the club could have him sit down and watch the NAB ad with the kid who drops all the overhead marks who grows up to be Nick Riewoldt

To be honest, I'm surprised this thread has travelled this far. I thought the title was more of a statement which everyone would agree on, rather than a question that required discussion  .

Well while most us agree mate, the issue is that Deluca was signed for 2 seasons at the end of last year and we need to see what we can do with him, as dumping him could bring yet another financial constraint.

[color=white]Some interesting observations etc on this topic. I personally think Deluca is a plonker. You could translate Shane Warnes infamous "can't bowl, can't throw" line into "can't mark, can't kick". I think young Bryan deserves more of a go.

Saying that, and unlike Richmond supporters, if he kicks a goal on Saturday night I will still be cheering my backside off!!!

Unfortunately that is spot on. Spends way too much time on the ground....literally. A 'squad' player imo who is just in the team to take a tall defender until JK is ready.
