As much as Collo has worked hard for the club, maybe in some ways (in the right way) some of us hope that he does move on soon, so we can get a Fitzpatrick in to the presidency role.

Note - that my comment is not directed in a disrespectful way, but simply that I have noted that some see us as sought of stabilising, but now someone with great vision needs too move us forward from here in.

I haven't heard much about Mark Fitzpatrick, but I know that Mike Fitzpatrick would be good. 8)

I re-read that a couple of times before posting and couldn't work out why it didn't look right!

Greg Lee is supposed to be the next President in waiting now he's on the Board.

if collo does quit, or even if he doesn't, brace yourselves for another fatprick spillage of toxic bile!!

i'm sure the fat-one has just ordered some greasy-joe take-away while he does a copy & paste number on recent articles to produce a "brand new" carlton bashing piece.

if i put on my johnny carson wizard's hat and was handed an envelope i'm sure i would see one or more of the following:

serial salary cap rorting
conflict of interest
lame-duck president
cheats
telstra surface
telstra surface linked to carlton's salary cap rorting
carlton's salary cap rorting linked to rolling stones still being together

fatprick, you may not be able to get what you want ... but i'm sure you'll use this to get what you need

Smorgon is an accountant, has the charisma and people skills of a wet towl and does not know much about football.....

I had the "pleasure" to be seated next to him for dinner and it was a very uninspiring experience.

It will also mean that everything will be driven by the numbers - short term numbers.

It would be very bad for the club. I would expect that when members had about 10 month of Smorgon the troops will become very restless before the next AGM....

Smorgon AKA Captain Charisma.

If people thought Collo has no personality just wait for Smorgo..

neil mckissock, or whatever his name is, has the personality of a mollusc ... doesn't stop the bombed making $14m a year in sponsorship.

i'm not saying this to come out as a smorgan supporter ... just reckon you shouldn't get stuck with an "eddie kennett" profile in mind

apart from more "high profile" (for good or bad reasons) presidents like eddie, collo, kennett and one or two others how many presidents can people rattle off?

Horses for courses.
when Essendon* were down and need of a profile they went out and got their profile people.
They dont need a president like Ron Evans anymore...

They also have Sheedy... and hes a great promo man.

Youre comparing oranges and bananas.

We need a couple of blokes who can make a splash.

Fitzy isnt the right man because he doesnt want anything hard... he likes his comfort level. He wouldnt swap what he has now for something on the hard side.

So hes no good!!!

NEXT!!!!

Unfortunately , just as Elliot had no contingency plan about who was to take over after him neither did Collo.

collo kind of did.. in his boring stupor... he believes a guy like Smorgon is the way to go... and make no mistake .. there are some morons around the club and pretty high levels that believe Sticks would make a fantastic president.

The reality is put a couple of people behind Sticks and he has the numbers to be our next president.,
In my opinion collo didnt do enough to move the club into the next level.

The club is still in a mess and it has no viable presidents (Maybe Lee??) but Lee was not on collos presidential radar....

I believe that with Collo stepping down and hopefully away.. the club will evolve to a positive again.
There are some ripper people around the club who wont put their hand up because they dont want to be headed off at the pass.
Unfortunately collo should have done this weeks ago and allowed more fresh blood and alternatives to identify themselves.

He took us as far as he could go..but it was not far enough and we have been treading water for a couple of years and it seems like one more before we cann really start forging a path worthy of our history forwards once again.

Time for hands to start coming up and a fair dinkum effort at identifying genuine leadership talent off the field.

the beauty of all this is as our on field list grows with fresh blood.. it will be mirrored off field... hopefully climaxing to a crishendo of success on and off the field.

Just a couple of pieces left in the game of KER -PLONK!!!.. where the old world falls over and the new Carlton takes pver.

GO BLUES!!!

Maybe Collo is looking for a process of natural succession? People have plenty of time to put their hands up - maybe we could see someone come along who can be our MacGuire, Kennet, Good-Elliot, etc.

No he wanted Smorgon and the continuation of a bean counters approach to the debt...

There's also been a bit of argy bargy between Collo and some of the board. He's probably lost a bit of his power over the past couple of months.

Lee's got support but he wouldn't have the numbers yet.

Smorgon will be the man.
