Deano, until we can subjugate the dominant paradigm we will be repressed by the man.

How selfish are some........ is it to hard to sacrifice one day out of 365 for the greater cause. We live a pretty comfortable life and its the least we could do, so i say no footy get mates around a sink a few like im about to do.

cheeerio.

Lets not mix religion and footy.
There can only be one winner!

Me watching a game of footy is going to bring an end to existence is it?

If your religion is important, stay away.

Let us heathens have our footy.

AFL has said NO to Good Friday Football.....give it rest!

Good Friday mass starts at 3pm.
Pretty sure crowds would be down if there were games today.

Yep I'd like to watch a game of footy but I think I'll just catch up on episodes 4 & 5 of the soprano's series 6. Tony got shot did you know

Play the game and let the people decide.

I'd love the Blues to be on the front foot with this and make it our own ala pies and dons anzac day.

If footy was played 364 days a year, you might have a reasonable argument, until that actually happens, pull your head in.

While the AFL say its all about being respectful etc I reckon if they thought they'd still get a decent profit out of a GF day they'd jump for it.

I am a Christian, and respect GF for what it is, but I think this whole business of slinking around feeling guilty because Jesus died is a crock. We should be out there celebrating life because that's what Jesus died for - and what better way to celebrate our connections with early Christianity than a return to the Colisseum???

Good Friday is the most boring public holiday in the calendar.

Gee some of the Christians get fussy and irritable about this, don't they?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they are probably Roman Catholics of Italian heritage.

I'd like to see it happen, with any appropriate solemnity and celebration as befits the day so as not to offend Christians.

If it really offends you, don't go.

Diamond Joe wasn't able to go to a vast swathe of his own tema's matches for years because of his respect for the Sabbath. I would hazard a guess that some "frum" Jews for years have forgone footy for the Sabbath.

What makes Sandal-wearers so much more special?

On Good Friday night in Italy AC Milan are playing Inter Milan. In Sydney the Roosters and the Broncos are playing. What makes the AFL so different? Are we more religious than Italy?

It's a disgrace that there is no Good Friday football, and it's squarely on the AFL and Demetriou who has a conflict of interest

Maybe its a 'no go' as Ron Evans feels that he would sell less meat pies on a good friday...

He could introduce Fish Fillet Burgers, and "Blood of Christ" Cola.

The most boring day of the year needs something to spark it up. A footy match would be the perfect way to do so.
