Trent Sporn will suprise many if his body holds together. He reads the play very well, has enough speed without being explosive, and is one of the more skillfull players at the club.

Would love to say Bentick, but his skills are sub-standard...I would put him to shame in a kicking contest. If he can improve that side to his game he will be invaluable. [/quote]

By the second half of this season I expect Setanta to be a permanent fixture.

If Waite's body holds up he will be too good for any opponent. Ditto Fevola.

In my books, Fisher, Houlihan, Walker, Carazzo, McGrath and Simpson have stepped up, with Simpson and Carazzo making a name for themselves.

By the end of the year Kennedy (bar injury) should have done his apprentiship, sooner than an average rookie, and he will be our CHF. Murphy will get better and take another step as the season unfolds, as will Betts, and Aisake will have stepped up in the VFL grade, ready to try out in the big time next year, after one more solid pre season.

Bentick needs to show consistency, and if he plays like his second half in 2005, he will be back to where he was; that's no step up. He needs to step up, because he seems to be our (benchpress) best player in the in and unders.

Should they be given a good chance Sporn, Bannister and Prenders to show their maturity on the big stage, and hold their position on the list.

bondi that's a bit harsh on Bentick - what is he - 20?

That's like saying Walker needs to get back to his best on the back of his debut game.

Bentick is in my First 22. I love him. He deserves to be at Carlton. He is a Carlton man, and not a boy anymore. He wants to be here and stay.

I want him smack bang in the centre. Kouta and Stevens on HIS side, with Kouta getting hold of any spillage if Bentick doesn't handball it out to Stevens or Kouta to run with it.

I wouldn't mind down the track Blackwell joining him there (in Kouta's place), because Blackwell's first 10m is quick, and he is an awkward height to tackle. In the mean time whilst Kouta is still considered as a midfielder, I like it when Murphy's in there when Kouta's resting. Carrots IMO is the man to do it (if not Blackwell, Murphy or Kouta), but I like him elsewhere as an attacking tagger, if we can spare him.

Back to the point. Without disrespect for Bentick, I really thought he stepped up and understood AFL tempo last year from the Colligwood game onwards. He was BOG. Hence my reason for finding him ineligible for my selection criteria for this thread.

Who knows he may become the player who steps up to my expectation; he has the strength and right bodytype for it, all he has to do is do it every week. He's old enough and and he's an ex TAC Premiership captain, so he's also mature enough.

My next expectation of his next step forward is to become a Ratten type, and be in the top 3 Carlton players every week. The game is not one dimensional (just pace) IMO, and for mine, there is always a position for a player who gets the nut, and successfully dishes it out to advantage 8 out of 10 times, like Bentick.

A thousand pardons Bentick and jimmae.

Gee I hope we win tonight by a big margin. I feel really positive, and have put money on it. Go Blues.

The thing I like best about AB is he seems to be a no-bullshit quiet achiever. Just a 100% effort....full stop.

Few are as consistent as AB.
And Carazzo for that matter.
