Deluca. I don't like Deluca but he had a decent game against Sydney and you can't drop him after that. Setanta has to demand a spot in the VFL if he's to play.



Houlihan by a mile. He's one of our top midfielders now. I'd still want Blackwell in the side but not at Houlihan's expense.



None of the above. Both players shouldn't really ever be in navy blue.

Its a pity the ants have a bye .It would be great if some of these fringe guys got some ball time.

An extract of a post of mine elsewhere but suited to this topic.

Now coming into this weeks game assuming we lose Fev,Lappin,and have no Waite. My changes would be to drop Teague and Chambers also.

In i'd have Carlos, Bannister, Wiggins and Kennedy ( if fit - otherwise someone who is mobile mid sized and can mark or maybe Livo or TLO )

My rationale Bannister and Wiggins are big (small) enough to match up on Hawthorns forwards. Kennedy should be good enough to match up on Dawson as a one out forward when we flood and Carlos offers us the moving target role up front.

I believe that if Pagan goes with his flood tactics ( as he does ) what might be an Option is too leave Kennedy( Livo ) up front as a one out target. We then get a good look at Kennedy and he gets a taste, by playing on a relatively newcomer in Dawson who might not just be experienced enough to expose a young gun.

Carlos roaming opens up the forward line, bringing the ball to ground and providing a contest every time, even to the point where he could push up to the wing to provide a contest so our extractor(s) might be able to get to the foot of the packs and get the ball out and moved on. Our main issue will be Mitchell but i have faith in Bentick being able to win his fair share of the contested ball.

Bannister i think is a good inclusion as he is mobile enough and big enough to play KP against the Hawks, Wiggo is ideal also as he could be suited by match ups here.

Also bringing in Carlos and Kennedy also gives us the option of moving Lance forward if we have to. Keep Saddo in as he needs game time and he is a must this year in our best 20.
Livo might stay out for another week due to match ups. Unless Pagan goes out on a limb and brings Livo in instead of Kennedy and plays Livo forward ( like his junior days ). Maybe slow but Neitz isn't no flying machine, and Livo playing the offensive role not defensive role might be a confidence booster for him, releasing some pressure off him in the way of accountability.

In anyway what do i know i'm just another supporter who has opinions and i can't be right all the time can i. But then again maybe Pagan isn't right all the time also.

Time to be bold... Lets give opposition clubs something to think about. Predictability has cost us too much..

What has everyone got against Teague?

He was incredible 2 years ago and shocking last year (i admit!)

But like every other player lets give him a clean slate this year. He has obviously worked hard to earn his spot in the team and I believe that his efforts on Saturday night weren't all that bad.

I'd much rather see no Sporn! Sporn to me is just a bloke in a Carlton jumper who runs around aimlessly. He rarely wins the ball, often makes stupid leads which result in turnovers and I just don't like the way he plays

Give Teaguey a couple more weeks!

its not about giving teague a break.

its about him being in our next permiership side.

IMO he wont be, he is been very good the first year, not so good last year, but my best 22 even this year, doesnt feature teague.

as for those

i would have Russel, Setanta, Blackwell and Houlihan in the side over the other four mentioned.

Deluca, while good on the weekend falls in the same category as Teague, i think we will be better served by having setanta in the side

LL, Teague would be fantastic if he was 10 cms taller, but he's not, so he's too slow and too ineffectual for his size.

Russell (but neither)

Sentanta (But where is the love for Chris Bryan?)

Blackwell (Houlihan is crap, one of our worst players. he gets pathetic cheap possesions and never gets hard ball, we get rid of Campo and now Houlihan takes his place)

Teague (By a mile, he is our best player. Quite easily the most couragous player in the AFL, more people should take a leaf out of his book, like Houlihan)

I'd like to see Kennedy in ... but that still may be a few weeks off.

But what makes me scratch my head is how Bannister never gets a gig.
Why keep him on the list if he's never given a run????

OK... he may not be that good a player, but surely would do more than Sporn or Deluca.

Was getting up & playing on after being hit in the head lacking in courage?

As for cheap possessions and never getting hard ball - has had 19 contested possessions in last 2 weeks.

Teague our best player by a mile? Have hardly seen him all year. Doesn't sound like he's rated too highly.

Dont worry BW - it was a woeful post from someone who's head in stuck in the sand. Or at Richmond - one of the two. Hard to differentiate really.

With a name like bentick4brownlow? Nothing against Bentick but he has as much chance of winning the Brownlow as............





...... Houlihan. (Even I think Keogh has wasted his money!!!)
